Myst

This book is very hard to explain. To explain the book you need to know the basicsd about the world that the characters live in. The base of this world is called Myst. Myst is where people started living, this is a magical country. Soon a new skill was developed, this skill was to create new worlds by writing them. This is almost like making a program exepet it is a world. You kan travel to these worlds by the book, you get sucked into the world. Some worlds are dangerous and some are peacefull.

The book is about Artrus and Catherine. They have started a great projekt ov re-building Myst, after it’s fall 50-60 years ago. They have about 20 people to help then. However, they mean for this number to grow. To start with they collect all the ages in Myst, ages are the worlds. And go to all of them. In some places they find people who want to help them and follow them back to Myst and in some ages they find no one att all. When they have checked all they are about 3000 people. They start to rebuild Myst. However, one day a construction worker and a chief are arguing about weather they should drop heavy weights on a florr to get rid of it or to go under, lift it up and save it. Instead, they ask Artrus what to do, he says that he thinks they shold smash it and so they do. When the floor is away there is a big whole going down. . Soon a new skill was developed, this skill was to create new worlds by writing them.

Artrus and Catherine go down to take a look at what is there. They find that there is a big room with a door going into another room. They open the door and step into a huge library. On a pillar there is an Age book that is lying open. Artrus and Catherine have a discussion about weather they should or should not go to the Age. The desicion comes to that they are going to the age.

They arrive to the age in the early evening. They found a couple of cliffs and climbed up on them to get a better view over the age. They are amazed by its beauty and start to walk to houses they can see in the distance. When they are there they get greated by a man very nicely. He takes them inside and there is a table full with food. Both catherine and Arturs are amazed by this since they didn’t see anyone carry in the food. However, they start to eat and have a delicious feast. The man clapps his ands and out from the shaddows two small men sith red cloaks step out and start to take away the plates and food that is left.

T la he party stys there fore a couple of days, they do many fun things like bathing and byrinths. They see the same servant all the time but do not think of the horrible tings that happen to them.

One day there comes a letter from the king saying that he wants to meat Artrus. The next day Artrus contuinues his journey to the palace. When his party arrives they have a big feast.

The next day Artrus takes part in a couple of debates. He enjoys the people around him very much. Soon the time has come to go back to the man they first mett. They begin walking back. One evening they arrive.

The next day att breakfast Arturs and the man are talking about something when Artrus says that he and Catherine are not pure Myst. This amzes everyone who is around. Artrus and Catherine get put into jail. They soon learn that the people here use the not pure blooded for slaves and that they are tortures very much.

Artrus and Catherine start to revolt against the leaders of the country, but at the same time a pleague is killing a lot of the not pure blooded mysts.

Soon the slavs have control and have taken control over the pure blooded. Artur and his party return to Myst and continue re-building.

Artrus is the main character in the book. He is a professor and is very knowledged in most subjects. His highest dream is to re-build Myst and make it as before when everything was beautiful. He has had conflicts with his dad because he was one of the reasons that Myst fell.

Catherine is Artrus wife. She is a little more superstious then Artrus. But in the end of the book Artrus changes to a little more superstitious man.

Catherine and Artrus have a couple of “children”. They are ot biological parents because the children come from an Age where normal people live. The children wanted to learn more about the Myst people and their ways.

The King is at first a very nice guy. He offers Artrus and Catherinea place to live and a lot of other things. He is very nice and is very interested in Artrus until he gets to know that he is not pur D’ni he truns into a very evil person and wants to kill them right on the spot

The main plot in the book was that Artrus found this book that contained a world where there lives people who have flead from Myst. If this wouldn’t of happened then the book still could of been a good one but not as good. The plot leading up to this was that there where to men discussing weather or not to take away a floor. If the floor hadn’t been taken away then they wouldn’t of discovered the other age.

Another main plot is that the pure D’ni people are using the not pure as slaves. A side plot in this is that there is a terrible disiese spreading and killing the pure D’ni very quickly. This makes it easier for the slaves to take control.

I thought that this book was ok. It was to easy to read and the plot was not so advanced so I didn’t feel that I had a great desire to read on in the book. However, it was a fun book to read and weel worth the time. However, I felt the author did a very good job describing the landscapes that the characters visited. I have tried to do this several times but have not succeeded as well as I would like to. I could see the beauty that the author described in my book very well.
