Cell Phone Report

Tomorrow you are to order cellular phone services for all of your employees in your company. Your boss tells you that she will give you the necessary information about the amount of airtime (number of minutes of phone use) per month that each officer will need. She will give this information about an hour before you must present your report to the president of the company. Furthermore, she makes it VERY clear that your future with the company depends on how well you perform this duty.

Knowing that you will need at least an hour just to put your report together, you contact the local phone companies.

They give you the following information about their three available services:

  • Luken’sLucky Cellular Service

With this plan each person is charged $18.95 to start up and $0.35 per minute of airtime.

  • Marquez’s Mighty Cell Service

With this plan each person is charged $40.95 to start up and $0.15 per minute of airtime.

  • Muff’s Magical Mobile Service

With this plan each person is charged $75.95 to start up with no charge for airtime.

To prepare for tomorrow you must do a mathematical analysis of these three different plans. This analysis should include:

  • Definitions of all variables
  • An equation for each plan
  • A table of values for each plan
  • A graph
  • The slope and intercepts for each plan
  • Points of intersection

Your boss suggests that you look at these plans over a range of airtime from 0 to 500 minutes per month.

She also suggest you find out how much airtime you can get per month with each of these plans for a total cost of $100.

She makes it very clear that you must include the range of airtime for which each plan is the cheapest.

Use the report outline provided on the next page. Be sure to include all the necessary information in your report. Be organized and show all your work in order to receive full credit!
