Kelly and I spoke with Percy on Thursday and we came up the following choices for All Stars regarding gear. The coaches and I have the goal of making this an event which makes a swimmer feel extremely fortunate for being picked to swim for team South Dakota. We are also hoping this will encourage other swimmers from around the state to work towards making the All Stars team next year.

Silicone caps will be white with gold stars and in navy blue writing “South Dakota All Stars Swim Team” The latex cap would be the same only the gold stars will have a small line of navy blue around them so the gold “pops” more.

There would be 2 shirts, one in bright daisy yellow and one in heather gray.

The yellow shirt will have the presidents on the left breast side. The heather shirt would have the presidents blown up big on the front. The only difference from the design below, is it will have the word “Swim” added between All Star and Team

The colors for the yellow shirt will be navy and white, and for the heather shirt will be yellow and navy, but we may change these when we see the mock ups from Dakota Sports. There will be 2 colors on the front and only 1 color on the back.

The back of both shirts will be the exact same, only the yellow will be in navy and the heather will be in white.

The back will be a big star with all the names of the swimmers in the star in different fonts with little stars within it. We saw a similar example and it was really cute and very different. The top of the shirt will say “2013 South Dakota All Stars Swim Team”

The warm up jacket is a non-name brand to help cut costs. It is mainly navy blue with red and white striping in it. We wanted to go with red, white and blue to go with the Mount Rushmore theme. The jacket will have South Dakota All Stars embroidered in red with a white star behind the words “all stars”. South Dakota will be arced over the star and words. On the back of the jacket it will say “SWIMMING” across the shoulders in big block lettering, again embroidered in red. If a parent would like, they can have either the first or last name embroidered on the right side of the jacket for an extra cost.

We have also arranged for a team dinner on Friday night after warm-ups. It is at a restaurant called Bambinos. Kelly has a cousin in Lawrence and vouches the food is good. For $13.00 per person plus tax for 10 and over, half price for kids 4-9, and 3 and under are free. They will give us a buffet of:

Red meat pasta

Alfredo pasta

Mac and cheese for our younger eaters

Salad

Fresh bread

Soft drinks

We will have parents sign up on the gear form for the number of people who will attend, but they will pay that night at the restaurant. The coaches will pass out team gear at the dinner. Bambino’s can hold up to 300 people so we should be good with room.

We would also like to give each swimmer a certificate with their name/coach/events and year. We will print them up at home so the LSC will need to cover printer cartridges and paper. I do not have prices on that yet, but do not anticipate it being over $100.

Pricing for team gear:

Silicone caps: $10.50 x 1

Latex caps: $2.65 x 3

T-shirt: $6.45 x 2

Warm-up jacket: $42.00 x 1 (that includes embroidery on front and back)

Total: $73.35

Cost to parents $60.00 (asking the LSC to pick up 13.35 per swimmer)

Extra gear pricing:

Silicone cap: $12.00

Latex cap: $5.00 (maximum of 1 extra)

T-shirt extra: $10.00

Extra warm-up jacket: $50.00

Extra name embroidered: $7.50

Percy is confident he can full-fill the order of caps and t-shirts by the date. To full-fill the jacket order he has to have the order in prior to Christmas. The form will state that if gear order form is not received by Dec. 17th, then the swimmer will not receive team warm-up jacket, but will still be charged the same amount. Any stragglers after Dec. 17th will get all other gear minus the jacket.

We feel parents are receiving a great deal of gear for their swimmer for a very low price.

Thank you for your consideration!
