Varsity Tournament Rules

Coaches Meeting:
There will be a coaches meeting at 7:40 am in the High School Faculty Room (Coach’s Room).
Matches:
Matches in 4-team pool play will be 2 sets to 25 (Starting at 4) with 27 point cap. Matches in 3-team pool play will be 3 sets to 25 (Starting at 4) with 27 point cap. Quarterfinals and Semi-finals will be 1 game to 30 with no cap. Finals will be best 2/3 sets to 25 points (no cap) with a deciding game to 15 points (no cap) if necessary. All first-place and second-place teams go to the gold bracket, while all third and fourth place teams will go the Silver Bracket. Playoff positions on the tournament brackets will be based on pool finish to avoid teams from the same pool playing each other in the first round.
Work Teams (pool play):
Each work team must supply at least 3 workers, including a score keeper, a libero/substitution tracker, and a score flipper. A team coach must be courtside when their team is working.
Work Teams (Playoffs):
Teams that lose in the playoffs will have to immediately work on the court they have just played, unless otherwise noted.
Warm-ups:
For a team’s first match of the day, 2-4-4 (2 minutes shared court time for ball handling, 4 minutes for the serving team, and 4 minutes for the receiving team). For the rest of the matches, including playoffs, there will a 1-3-3 format.
Tie Breakers:
(1) If 2 teams from the same pool are tied, tie breaker will be as follows:
(1) Head-to-head match record
(2) Head-to-head point differential
(3) Entire point differential
(4) Coin toss will be used.
(2) If 3 teams from the same pool are tied, tie breaker will be as follows:
(1) Entire point differential
(2) Coin toss
Facility Information & Rules:
· The doors will open for teams to enter at 7:30 am
· Only water & sports drinks are permitted in the playing area.
· NO COOLERS OR OUTSIDE FOOD ALLOWED. There will be concessions for all players and parents. There will be a separate room for all coaches with food and beverages.
· There will be t-shirts available for purchase for $15.
· Absolutely NO alcoholic beverages or smoking is permitted in or around the facility.
· Please help us keep this facility clean – pick up after yourself!
