WHAT IS BOOM?
The BOOM mobiles are a group of four traveling sailing schools that travel to different communities around Ontario and teach sailing. Ontario Sailing runs this mobile sailing school, and the instructors are certified by the Canadian Yachting Association (CYA). The BOOM program first began almost 30 years ago, and in that time it has introduced over 27,000 people, primarily youth to sailing.
About the Program
The sailing school runs from 9 am—4 pm, Monday to Friday (except holiday weeks when it runs from Tuesday to Friday). Some sites may offer before and after sailing school care, ask your host contact to see if it is available at your site. BOOM programs give participants lots of time on the water, actually sailing. The instructors use games and great activities to make leaning how to sail fun both on and off the water.
BOOM
The BOOM mobile is for children ages 8-14 years old. This learn to sail program teaches beginner sailors the basics, while still challenging the intermediate sailor. Participants can work on their CYA White Sail Levels I, II, and III.
Adult Evening Classes *
Who thought sailing was just for kids? The BOOM mobiles offer adult sailing lessons in the evenings from 6 pm — 9 pm. The adult classes run for 4 evenings, from Monday to Thursday (except holiday weeks when it runs for 3 evenings from Tuesday—Thursday). The BOOM instructors will tailor the lessons to teach you the basics if you are a beginner sailor, or challenge you with intermediate skills if you are a more experienced sailor. The White Sail Level I, II, and III courses includes a great deal of time on the water, as well as lessons on land.

Access BOOM
The Access BOOM mobile is a sailing school for people with disabilities. This mobile uses specially designed boats called Access Dinghies. The Access Dinghy allows people with even a high level of physical or cognitive disability to sail independently, and safely. Our qualified instructors continually modify the program to meet the needs of the participants. This program is about fun, independence, and learning. This program can accommodate participants with a variety of disabilities. Please contact the host site to see if this program is right for you or someone you know.
The Access Dinghy is very stable, very safe, and great fun!
