There Are Two Forms of Disbelief in God

“Apologetics” is just a fancy word to describe the reasons for what you believe. Today we will discuss, “Why I Believe in God…”Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.

There are two forms of disbelief in God:

1) The atheist says he doesn’t believe in God.

2) The agnostic doesn’t believe we can know there is a God.

The truth is that atheism would require omniscience! The only way someone can say there is no God is to assume they have complete knowledge of everything there is to know, otherwise, there would always be a possibility God exists!

An agnostic who says one cannot know if there is a God, is saying the same thing: “I know everything there is to know and I know one cannot know there is a God!” They are in effect saying, “The one thing I know about God is that you cannot know anything about God!”

I. EVERY EFFECT HAS A ______.

This is completely scientific! You can have no effect without a cause. Scripture says it all began with an Omnipotent God!

II. EVERY CREATION HAS A ______.

Life did not just suddenly appear. Genesis 1-2 tells the whole story of the origin of matter. Gen 2:4 NLT This is the account of the creation of the heavens and the earth.

III. EVERY DESIGN HAS A ______.

Look at a leaf; or a fish; or a bird; or a baby! Watch the sunset, or the ocean waves, or the stars! Everything has a designer. But not just any designer! It has to be an Intelligent Designer! (Look at a DNA strand! Look at the preciseness of the orbit of the earth…the tilt of the earth on its axis!) Random choice, survival of the fittest, and mutation cannot explain the marvel of creative design that surrounds and composes us! Psalm 90:2, thou hadst formed the earth...

IV. COMMUNICATION REQUIRES A ______.

The DNA in every single one of the five to fifty trillion cells that make up the human body “communicates” what and who we are! Obviously, information can’t be communicated unless there’s a communicator – and in this case, an intelligent communicator.

God communicated with Adam in the Garden!

Gen 2:16-17 He communicates through His Word today.

V. EVERY ______HAS A LAWGIVER.

Every society has belief in a moral code of some kind.

(They do not all agree with each other, but every culture recognizes moral law.) Where did that come from? There must be an outside lawgiver! Rom 1:19-21
