New Users:

If you are new to United Streaming, your school will give you an eight digit pass-code. Once you enter this, you will enter your user information and be able to move to the next step…

Subscriber Login:

Enter your user name and password. If you forget your user name, don’t panic. United Streaming will email it to you if you forget. If you can’t remember your password, you have the option to reset it.

Search:

There are several ways to search United Streaming for resources.

-Quick Search: At the top of the screen in the center, there will be a search box. By clicking on this box, you will be asked to enter generalized information (Services, Media Type and Grade Level). Enter in general terms to widen the scope of your search, or be specific to narrow the field.

Example: Rome; Video Segment; Grades 9-12.

-Subject/Grade Search: In the menu to the left, there are content and grade level choices. By selecting one of these, you can narrow your choices at each stage.

Example: By choosing “Mathematics”, you receive thousands of resources on various topics for every grade level. In the menu to the left, you continue to narrow the choices by subject, media type, grade level, etc.

-Curriculum Standards Search: From the Home page, at the bottom of the menu on the left, select “curriculum standards search”. By default it will select Missouri. Using the drop down menus, select the standards document, the subject, and the grade level. It will then bring up the specific standards for that content and grade level. Choose the specific strand and narrow it down – it will give you a variety of resources to choose from that meet those specific standards.

Viewing and Saving Resources:

-Once you have narrowed down your search, scroll over each video to see a preview. This will include a short description of the video, the grade level, a teacher’s guide if available and links to curriculum standards. If this looks like something you will use, let’s learn how to watch or save it.

-Each video will be divided into segments. This gives you the option of viewing the whole video, or only watching the portion that pertains to your lesson. Simply click on the segments you wish the class to see and hit “play”.

-To save a video, click the download icon (it looks like a film strip with an arrow. A popup will appear. Select “save” and choose where you would like to store the file.

-Like a resource so much you want to share it? Under the video, choose “share” and it will allow you to email it, add it to your MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and others.

TeacherCenter:

From the Home page, select the “TeacherCenter” tab. This will link you to several tools and resources, including curriculum resources and a teacher community with blogs, forums and a newsletter.

-FIY – The Discovery Education Atlas is amazing! Choose a country and discover information on the culture, government, history and natural resources – all with links to resources to coincide with that country. Geography teachers, you will love this resource and so will the students.
