Therapy Inclusion Partnership

Game: Playdough Activities
Aims/Skills: Encourages emotional control and focus, attention span, fine motor skills and social skills (cooperation) and
imagination
Materials: Playdough (can be several colours), small objects to hide in dough, playdough mats with animals or other objects on them to complete.
Method: There are various ways of using playdough. Pupils can be asked to create ‘something’ out of their imagination. For many children with difficulties thinking creatively, or with motor difficulties, give them a concept or a more specific description, “ what kind of animal do you like?” or “make me a monster with two heads and only one eye”, or “make something you like to eat for teatime”. Alternatively you can hide small objects in the dough for them to find and identify. Also you can provide children with playmats where they need to complete an animal, a house etc. .
