Objectives of the course (expected learning outcomes and competences to be acquired)
The aim of the health-related fitness education is to introduce students to the area of physical education and physical culture. Particular attention will be paid totheoretical preparation the student to arranging and conducting physical activity programs aimed at improving and maintaining the health-related fitness of children and youthin institutions related with physical education. The effect ofthe classes will beessentialknowledgeandpracticalskills useful in the measurement of health-related fitness.
Course contents
Lectures (15 hours)
1)Physical culture as the background and aim of physical education.
2)Physical education as the preparation to participation in physical culture. Current and perspective objectives of physical education.
3)Health-related fitness education and basic training principles.
4)Measurement of health-related fitness.
5)Physical fitness norms in children and adolescents: the physical education approach.
6)Methods for measuring physical activity in research and exercise.

Theoretical classes (11 hours)

1)Physical education in my country (students presentation).
2)Aerobic fitness - concept, significance, determinants, training, measurement.
3)Muscular strength and endurance - concept, significance, determinants, training, measurement.
4)Flexibility - concept, significance, determinants, training, measurement.
5)Body composition - concept, significance, determinants, training, measurement.
6)Nutrition - concept, significance, guidelines.
Practice classes (4 hours)
1)Practical performance of physical fitness field tests (EUROFIT, YMCA).
Assessment methods
1)theoretical exam (50%)
2)preparation and presentation of paper during theoretical classes (25%)
3)assessment of practical skills of physical fitness measurement (25%)
