TheAssignmentCommissioner (here-to-after“AC”)isappointed by the InternationalAssociation ofApprovedBasketballOfficials(here-to-after“IAABO”) Central ConnecticutChapter Board #6 (here-to-after“Bd.#6”). TheACisappointed by a majority vote of the Bd. #6 Executive Committee (here-to-after “EC”) at its’ meetingprecedingtheBd.#6Annualmeeting.TheACistheprimaryliaisonofBd.#6 with regard tosecuringofficiatingassignmentsforBd. #6 membersin accordance withthecurrentratingprofileofeachmemberassetforthby the EC. TheAC represents Bd.#6members as it pertains game assignments with privateandpublicschools servedbyBd.#6,other ConnecticutIAABOassignmentcommissioners andtheCIACbasketballand officiatingcommittees.

EligibleCandidates–AnyBd.#6memberingoodstandingper the Constitution and asdeterminedbythe Bd.#6Secretary/Treasurer. TheACcannot beaBd.#6ECmember,Bd.#6Rules Interpreter,AssistantInterpreter,Bd.#6Secretary/Treasurernorbeanappointed chairpersonto any oftheBd. #6 Standing Committees.Suchcandidate for theACmustwithdrawfromsuchelectedorappointedpositionifselectedbythe EC.Suchcandidate, ifselected,willbecome a non-workingBd.#6 member.

TermofAppointment/Stipend/Computer–TheBd.#6ECshallappointtheACtoa1-year termeffectiveattheBd.#6AnnualMeeting. Thestipend andpaymentprovisions will be established by the EC and be directly linked with the activities/effort expended. Thestipend willincludeanymiscellaneous expensesincurredinthe performanceofduties. TheACmustcompleteaW-9andwillbeissuedaW-1099 fortax reportingpurposes.The EC will provide the AC with a computer to perform assignment responsibilities. TheBd. #6 President will directlysupervise and annually evaluate the AC.

Selection Process– TheBd. #6 EC may indicate the availability of the AC positionas required.If the AC positionis announced,candidates willberequested to submit a letter ore-mail indicatinginterestand qualificationsto the Secretary/Treasurer.TheEC willreviewall qualified candidates. TheEC will determine ifinterviewswilloccur.TheSecretary/Treasurerwillnotify the selected candidate, all othercandidates, and the Bd. #6 membershipwhena decisionis reached.In situationsrequiringanInterim AC, the EC willdetermine anemergencyselectionprocesswitha goal to appoint anInterim AC nolater thantwoweeksafter the vacancy isidentified.

MinimumQualifications–competentintheuseofthecomputer; abilityto communicateeffectivelywithothers;abilitytoorganizemultipletasks;abilityto problemsolvescheduling situations andsituations betweenofficialsandschools; abilityinwrittenandverbalskills:abilitytobeavailableviae-mail,cell/home phoneorothercommunicationmethods toall appropriate Bd. #6 constituents.

Duties–TheACwillusehis/herbestjudgmenttoassigncompetentandskilledBd.

#6officialstoavailableBd.#6assignmentsusingallrelevantandapprovedBd.#6 policiesasguidance. AssignmentswillbebasedontheAC’sknowledgeofofficials’abilitytoofficiatevariouslevelsofgames. TheACisexpectedtoperformasnoted,thefollowing:

1. Knowledge,Competency,Communications

  • develop competencyto the game assignmentprocess includingthe functionalityof the computerassignmentprogram.
  • representBd. #6 as itsspokespersonto Bd. #6 constituentsandvariousentitiesas identified by the EC regarding game assignments.
  • respond to pertinentquestionsasit pertainsto theAC duties and alert the EC as it pertainsto items requiringEC intervention.
  • maintain and providea summary of all respectivecommunications.
  • workwiththe Bd. #6 EC to communicate relevant informationthroughvarioustechnologicalmediums.
  • workwiththe Secretary/Treasurerto insuremembers are ingood standing priorto makinggame assignments.
  • workwiththe Interpreter and appropriate Standing Committee to identify trainingneeds.
  • receiveinput from Bd. #6 officialsonfacility conditions,ejectionsand disqualifications,and report informationto the CIAC as required.

2. Assignments

  • solicit,collectand recordBd. #6 members’ acceptability by respective publicand private schoolaffiliationsservicedby Bd. #6. Notify Bd. #6 members if theymake sucha requestto view.
  • solicit,collectand recordschedulesforrespectivepublicand private schoolaffiliationsservicedby Bd. #6
  • provide guidanceas itpertains to game cancellations,fees, confirmationof reassignments,communicationswithschoolsand partners.
  • assignavailable games exclusivelyforBd. #6 members and the publicand private schoolaffiliationsservicedby Bd. #6.
  • provide guidanceto the AssistantAssignment Commissioner(here- to-after “AAC”) regarding assignment protocols.
  • recordallfinesby respective Bd. #6 membersand report to President andSecretary/Treasurer.
  • determine and set the number of Varsity, Split-Varsity and Sub-Varsity officials required to adequately fulfill the highschool and prep school assignments for thefollowing season.

3. Supervision

  • assignduties and supervisethe Assistant Assignment Commissioner.
  • assurethat the AAC develops sufficientcompetency withthe computer assignmentprogram and isableto fulfillallduties of theAC duringany period of time whenthe AC isunableto perform.

4. Reports

  • prepare a variety of writtenreportsas determined by the EC.Suchreportsareas follows:

-report of annual activities.

-report/assessment of AAC activities

-report of fees/finesassessed

5. Miscellaneous

  • otherduties as determined by the EC
