ENHANCING VISITOR PLANNING EXPERIENCE

ALTOONA, PA–The Alleghenies has enhanced the outdoor recreation user experience this summer through the updated website, TheAlleghenies.com. The site has been redone to improve user’s experience and ease of planning their next trip to The Alleghenies.

Updated features include the Google Maps,which provides users with a regional map of The Alleghenies that can be overlaid with their favorite activities (by color-coded markers) including hiking, on/off-road cycling, rails-to-trails, ATV/dirtbiking, motor touring, water activities, birding and winter activities all within an overall new look and feel to the site. The newest addition to this feature is the option to add Gears & Guides to your favorite activities as well as Lodging options. Users can view comments and images posted by other enthusiasts and post their own thoughts, experiences and recommendations including scenic overlooks, wildlife spotted, great fishing holes, epic singletrack, favorite trails…the possibilities are endless. Links are provided to allow users to share information through their social media networks as well.

“Since our upgrade last year to TheAlleghenies.com, we’ve received great feedback from users about the site. This year we wanted to take the experience one step further by making it that much easier for users to plan a trip to The Alleghenies. We are hoping the upgraded Google Map feature and refreshed look & feel will enable travelers to The Alleghenies to connect to area attractions, lodging options and businesses that offer supportive services for outdoor recreation,” said Adrienne Eichenlaub, Regional Tourism Program Manager. “Incorporating social media channels gives outdoor enthusiasts even more options to learn about the region and its wealth of resources as well.”
