1Minutes of the Committee Meeting held on 11 November 2016
The following amendment to the draft minutes was made:
1.1Min 5.3 Raffle. John explained that raffle tickets would be sold at the concert rather than numbers be on the back of programmes.
2Matters arising from the minutesnot noted elsewhere on the agenda
2.1Min 7.1 Merle would let Roger know as soon as possible the date when her son would be available to give his talk “The challenges of living in one of the most beautiful places in America” as the date arranged for that (17 March ’17) may need to be changed.
3St David’s Day Dinner, Wednesday, 1 March 2017, Tickton Grange Hotel
3.1A draft menu was tabled and minor amendments suggested.
3.2Cost. Tickton Grange would be charging the Society £25 per head.
3.3Invited guests. Dave & Jackie to let Roger have contact details so that he could send an invitation to the dinner. (See also minute 4.1 below.) Roger and John then to liaise re price to be charged for attendees, to include staff tip and cost of meals for guests.
3.4Start time. 6.30pm for 7 pm.
3.5Entertainment. It was agreed that we should have CDs playing Welsh music before the meal Merle to provide CD’s – (? and CD player?). Need to check with venue whether they can “pipe” music through their system into our room.Dave, Penny and Richard agreed to provide music (about 30 minutes) after the meal, to include some community songs.
3.6Programme. The following was agreed. Welcome – Roger. Grace - Nesta. Toast to The Queen – Merle. Toast to Wales - John. Toast to The Society - Roger to ask Eddie or Nev. Calling the Counties - Dave. Presentation of The Leek - Roger.
3.7Flowers. Julie had offered to provide floral decorations.
3.8Programme. Anne to prepare.
3.9Seating plan & place cards . Anne and Roger to prepare.
3.10Raffle. Eunice & Byron but Merle offered to do it if required. Committee members were invited to donate a nice prize for the raffle.

4St David’s Day Celebrations
4.1The St David’s Day Service will be held on Sunday, 5 March ’17, at 10 am at Zion United Reformed Church, Hallgate, Cottingham, HU16 4BB. Roger & Anne would not be present at the service. Dave & Jackie to liaise with Minister regarding service.
