GENERAL INFORMATION

The value of the exercises and the determination of the score

The Difficulty Value (DV) of the exercise is determined according to the content and difficulty of the routine. The value parts are classified as A (0,10 p.), B (0,20 p.), C (0,30 p.), D (0,40 p.), E (0,50 p.), F (0,60 p.) and G (0,70 p.) according to their degree of difficulty. The 7 elements with the highest difficulty value plus the dismount are awarded. (On the beam and floor a maximum 5 Acro and minimum 3 Dance are required).

For each apparatus (bars, beam, floor) there are five Composition Requirements (CR). Each Composition Requirement presented receives 0.50 p. with a maximum of 2.50 p. possible.

The CR do not have to be contained within the 7 highest Difficulty Values, plus the dismount.

For exceptional connection performances on bars, beam and floor, it is possible to give a

Connection Value (CV) of 0,10 p. or 0,20 p. per connection.

The D-Jury evaluates the maximum content value of the exercise and determines the

D score.

The E-Jury evaluates the execution faults, technique and artistry (only beam and floor) occurring during the exercise and determines the E score (max. 10,00 p.). The deductions applied by the E-Jury for the different faults are 0,10 p., 0,30 p., 0,50 p. or 1,00 p. according to the seriousness of the fault.

The highest and the lowest score of the judges of the E-Jury are eliminated; the average of the middle scores is the E score.

The final score is calculated as follows:

Score D + score E

Example:

Jury D:

-Difficulty Value2,40 p.

(3 D x 0,40 p.; 3 Cx 0,30 p.; 1 B x 0,20 p; 1 Ax 0,10 p.)

-Composition Requirements2,00 p.

(4 fulfilled requirements out of 5 - x 0,50 p.)

-Connection value0,20 p.

------

D Score :4,60 p.

Jury E:

-Deduction for execution and artistry faults1,70 p.

E Score : 10,00 - 1,70->8,30 p.

Final score: D + E:4,60 p. + 8,30 p. = 12,90 p.

VAULT

Each vault has a determined value, according to its difficulty, specified in the table of vaults.

Following the direction of the flight phases, saltos and rotations carried out in the flight phases, the vaults are classified in 5 different groups.

All vaults are to be performed with repulsion from both hands on the vault table. The arrival on the board is possible from a run or from a preparatory element (round off).

Take off from both feet is required.

The Jury evaluates the vaults according to four phases:

/ the first flight phase
/ the repulsion phase
/ the second flight phase
/ the landing

To determine its score, the jury will take into consideration technique (e.g. exactness during turns), execution (e.g. bent arms, separated legs), height and length during the second flight phase, landing, dynamics.

The two vaults will be averaged for the final score.

Competition requirements

Competition I (qualification for competitions II, III and IV):

/ one vault

Gymnasts wishing to qualify for the apparatus final (C-III) on vault must perform two vaults with a different repulsion phase as follows:

- take off position from the vaulting table: forward and
- take off position from the vaulting table: backward

The two vaults will be averaged for the final score.

Competition II (individual all-around competition) and IV (team final):

/ one vault

Competition III (apparatus final):

/ two vaults with a different repulsion phase as follows:
- take off position from the vaulting table: forward and
- take off position from the vaulting table: backward

The two vaults will be averaged for the final score.

UNEVEN BARS

The exercise must contain the following Composition Requirements (each CR has a value of 0,50 p.) :

1 - Flight from high bar to low bar and from low bar to high bar
2 - Flight element on the same bar
3 - Minimum two different grips (no cast, MT or DMT) and Close bar circle element (non flight)
4 - Non flight element with minimum 360o turn (performed on the bar)
5 - Dismount
- no dismount, A- or B dismountaward0.00 P.
- C dismountaward 0.30 P.
- D dismount or higheraward 0.50 P.
During a fall from the apparatus, an interruption of 30 seconds is allowed (the timing starts when the gymnast is on her feet after the fall) before the exercise must be resumed.

Directives for the content

The exercise should contain elements from different categories (kips, giant swings, circles, counter swings etc.). The exercise should demonstrate a variety of elements with turns around the longitudinal and breadth axis, grip and bar changes, execution under the low and over the high bar, outside and between the bars.

BEAM

The duration of the exercise may not exceed 1'30". A signal will be communicated ten seconds prior to and at the maximum time limit. If the exercise is too long a deduction of 0.10 p. is made.

During a fall from the apparatus, an interruption of 10 seconds is allowed before the exercise must be resumed. The duration of the fall starts when the gymnast is on her feet after the fall and ends when she takes off from the mat to remount the beam.

The exercise must include the following Composition Requirements (each CR has a value of 0,50 p.)

1-One connection of at least two different dance elements, one being a leap, jump or hop with 180o split (cross position only)
2-Turn
3-One Acro series, minimum of two flight elements, one being salto (elements may be the same)
4-Acro elements in different directions (fwd/swd and bwd)
5-Dismount

. no dismount, A- or B dismountaward 0.00 P.

. C dismountaward 0.30 P.

. D dismount or higheraward 0.50 P.

Directives for content

The exercise should be composed of acrobatic elements and connections with and without flight phase in forward, sideward and backward movement, dance and choreographic elements and connections and hold elements. A harmonious change between the element groups, interchanging of dance and acrobatic elements, variation in rhythm and a dynamic construction of the exercise are required.

In addition to the deductions for execution, the Jury E also takes into account faults of artistic expression (choreography, rhythm and sureness of performance).

Floor

The duration of the exercise may not exceed 1'30". If the exercise is too long, a deduction of 0.10 p. is made. For exceeding the border marking a deduction of 0,10 p. is made (one foot/one hand), 0,30 (both feet/hands), 0,50 (landing outside the floor area).

The exercise must include the following Composition Requirements (each CR has a value of 0,50 p.):

1- A dance passage of at least two different leaps or hops, connected directly or indirectly, one of them with 180° cross split position
2-One Acro Line with two different saltos
3-Salto fwd/swd and bwd
4-Salto with double BA and salto with LA (minimum 360o ) turn
5-Dismount

. no dismount, A- or B dismountaward 0.00 P.

. C dismountaward 0.30 P.

. D dismount or higheraward 0.50 P.

Directives for the content

The exercise acrobatic elements and series with and without flight phase in forward, sideward and backward movement, dance and choreographic elements and connections. Harmonious changes between dance and acrobatic elements, variety in rhythm and choreography corresponding to the character of the music are required. Harmony of the music and the movement, together with a versatile use of the floor area are essential.

In addition to the deductions for execution, the Jury E also takes into account the faults of artistic expression (choreography, expression of the idea (theme) of the music through the movement, relationship of music and movement and rhythm).
