Physical Science 20
Welcome to Physical Science 20. In this course we will explore some of the fundamental ideas in Chemistry and Physics.
The Units we will be covering this semester include
1. Foundations of Chemistry – We examine the 5 types of chemical reactions and try to predict their products. We will also look at the concept of The Mole and Stoichiometry.
2. Heat – We examine the effects of heat on matter. Particularly as it applies to chemical reactions.
3. Waves – We examine the behaviours of different types of waves and the effects that those waves have on physical matter
4. Careers and Independent Study – We examine different careers related to physical science and explore some topics of personal interest.
Each unit will be comprised of its own set of activities, projects and assessments. Your overall mark will come from the following weights.
20 % - Chemistry
20 % - Heat
20 % - Waves
15% - Careers and Ind. Study
Each Unit will consist of Assignments, projects and exams, all equally weighted
25 % - Final Exam – Comprehensive.
