Chief Michael Bilodeau

A message from the Chief:

I first would like to thank all the residents I have met for welcoming me and making me feel a part of the community. For those of you who have not met me yet, my name is Michael Bilodeau, and I am your Chief of Police. I have been married to my wife, Holly, for 24 years and we have a 14 year old daughter, Addison. We live in Greenland, just over the Newington town line, with part of our property in Newington. Yes, I do pay Newington taxes.

I am a New Englander and say it with pride! I graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1989 and earned by Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Southern Vermont College in 1993.

I started my Law Enforcement career in Virginia and after 5 years, my wife and I decided to move back to New Hampshire to raise a family.

In 1998 I was hired by The Town of Durham, New Hampshire, with the Durham Police Department. During my tenure with the Durham Police Department, I was a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Detective, Sergeant, and Detective Sergeant. In 2010 I had the opportunity to represent The State of New Hampshire and The Town of Durham, at the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy (FBINA).

Enough about me. The Newington Police Department is here to serve The Town of Newington. I want to hear from you! I believe in community based programs and strong communication.

The police department will be going through some internal changes to ensure improved service to the community, improved delivery of public safety, reduction in risk and liability exposure and to make us more accountable, through national accreditation.

I encourage you to come by the police station so we can meet and talk about any issues affecting you or our community.
