WOMEN & GIRLS FUND CAPITAL GOODS/ EQUIPMENT GRANT

APPLICATION GUIDELINES

1.  The Executive Committee of the Women Girls Fund selects grant recipients from among applicants who provide programs and services benefiting women and girls in the 20 towns served by The Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut: Barkhamsted, Bethlehem, Colebrook, Cornwall, Falls Village/Canaan, Goshen, Hartland, Harwinton, Kent, Litchfield, Morris, New Hartford, Norfolk, North Canaan, Salisbury/Lakeville, Sharon, Torrington, Warren, Washington, and Winsted/Winchester.

The Fund supports organizations/programs that serve women and girls in the areas of education, economic opportunity, social services, and/or health care. Applicants may

request up to $750.00 for capital goods or equipment to be used by organizations or programs in the above focus areas.

A capital good is a product that is used in the delivery of services of the nonprofit, i.e.

mattresses for a residential treatment program. Equipment is an item that creates

efficiency for the operation of the nonprofit, i.e. printer or refrigerator. Retroactive

funding is not available.

2.  In addition to completing the attached grant application, please supply the following:

a.  an original plus 5 collated copies of the application

b.  proof of nonprofit 501(c)(3) status (1 copy)

c.  annual operating budget and most recent year-to-date balance sheet (1 copy)

d.  an original plus 5 collated copies of the project budget with specific line items for revenues and expenses

e.  two recent estimates (within 60 days) of retail value of item(s) to be purchased (1 copy)

f.  current list of board of directors or governing body (1 copy)

g.  signatures of Executive Director and Board Chair

h.  organization’s non-discrimination policy (1 copy)

3. Acceptance of an award certifies that the grantee will expend funds for the purpose as

stated in the application. Award recipients also may be invited to discuss the impact of

their grant-funded program at the annual reception of the Women & Girls Fund.
