The time is right to join MKSK. MKSK is currently seeking a Senior Planner/Urban Designer to work in our growing Indianapolis, Indiana office.
The Project Planner helps direct the conceptual and technical production of planning and urban design assignments and teams, as well as coordinates with the Principal in Charge, project designer, and other disciplines on multiple and complex planning, urban design or landscape architectural projects to ensure that the client’s technical requirements of projects are fully met.


Potential Responsibilities:

•  Work in conjunction with project team to establish functional goals, strategies, and objectives and to ensure that the project team executes the scope of work to the best of abilities.

•  Establish and maintain relationships with project stakeholders: public officials, property owners, and businesses affected by projects. Proactively seek opportunities to build project awareness to keep these parties informed of project activities.

•  Plan, coordinate, perform, and manage public outreach for projects, such as public meetings, information sessions, municipal leader briefings, and other special events.

•  Manage sub-consultants to identify work tasks, review progress, coordinate deliverables, and monitor their role in supporting project objectives (schedule, community relations issues, etc.).

•  Administer projects, including generating project fees and schedules, and reviewing draft invoices.

•  Author project reports, develop and/or oversee the development of supporting graphics and analysis mapping.

•  Perform project supports tasks where planning involvement is required or requested.

•  Identify and communicate strategic implementation goals and tactics.

•  Facilitate and/or present to clients, stakeholders and at public forums.

•  Assist with business development, proactively seek opportunities, prepare scopes of work, fee proposals and respond to RFP’s.

•  Oversee the work of staff.

•  Participate in projects through other MKSK office locations (Columbus, OH; Covington, KY; Lexington, KY)

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Planning or Landscape Architecture plus 5-10 years of experience. Must have a working knowledge of city and community planning, sustainable development, and be versed in the principles of urbanism. AICP and/or LEED ND certification a plus.
Successful candidates must possess proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Arc GIS, and SketchUp. Strong ability for communication in written, visual and verbal skills are necessary. Salary will be commensurate with skills and experience.
