CONGRATULATIONS
IOWAUNITEDMETHODISTS!
YOU MADE THEMILLION...... AGAINIIIIII
The total for Ingathering 2014 was $1,037,046. This compares to $1,031,102. in 2013. Each
year we are improving!!
In the words taken from Micah 6:8, “What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to
love mercy and to walk humbly with our God.” God requires that we love mercy, having
compassion on others without judging them or their situation. We are to do what is right and
allow God to lead the way.
Let us be Candles of Hope by being a part of ending hunger and reaching out to those
in various need through Thanksgiving Ingathering 2015. Set goals in your church by
making kits for Iowa-Nigeria Partnership and UMCOR Depot, in which 67,074 total kits
were given in 2014. Monetary giving to Church World Service, Self-Help International,
Heifer International and P.E.T. will also make a difference to so many all over the world
and be blessed by your generous hearts.
The Thanksgiving Ingathering task force continues to set this goal for 2015------
$1,600,000.00
Together we can become Candles of Hope and Doers of the Word!!

2015 KIT IMPORTANT INFORMATION
UMCOR KITS
UMCOR Kits requested for the 2015 Thanksgiving Ingathering are as last year.
Health Kit. No changes. Remember to include $1 for toothpaste in your remittance check.
School Kit. No changes
Layette Kit. No changes, but value increase to $45
Sewing Kit. No changes, but value increase to $28
Birthing Kit. No changes
Because of the often sensitive cultural and political contexts that surround the people we assist, we cannot allow any patriotic-or even religious- symbols to be used in the UMCOR relief kits. Well intentioned though these are, including them in the kits can create an obstacle that keeps this valuable relief aid from reaching the people we seek to help. Our priority must be to get aid to the most vulnerable populations. These symbols, such as flags or crosses, can be covered so that the item can still be used in the kits. UMCOR does not require that the source of manufacturing be removed from kit contents.
BE SURE TO DESIGNATE UMCOR ON THE BOX FOR ALL THESE KITS
2015 UMCOR representatives to the Ingathering are Marvin & Iola Chickering,

This is the 25th year of the Iowa-Nigeria Partnership. The primary focus of the INP is to assist the Nigerian church with their educational pursuits. Nigerian United Methodists say “NA GODE” to Iowa United Methodists.
NOTE
Birthing kits and layettes are collected by both UMCOR and INP. The contents of each kit are different along with the value difference. SO be sure to clearly mark the kit boxes – NIGERIA or
UMCOR.
