Appendix 2.d contains a material specification for the European Health Insurance Card, including its visual structure and properties.

The tenderer is not supposed to fill in or complete this appendix.

This appendix is not in its entirety a minimum requirement. However, requirements based on this appendix are also stated in appendix 3 and thus minimum requirements, cf. appendix 3. Reservations may not be made to fundamental elements of other parts of this appendix, cf. clause 3.2.2.4 in the tender specifications.

Appendix 2.d – Material specification for the European Health Insurance Card

- Specification ofAnnexIof The Administrative Commission’sDecisionNo S2 of 12 June 2009 concerning the technical specifications of the European Health Insurance Card.

This Appendix 2.d has been drawn up in pursuance of the Contract and shall form an integral part thereof.

  1. Definitions

The Definitions shall apply to this Appendix 2.d.

In addition to the Definitions,the definitions below shall also apply to this Appendix 2.d:

” Decision” shall mean Decision No S2 of 12 June 2009 concerning the technical specifications of the European Health Insurance Card, including Annex I of the Decision.

  1. Introduction

According to the Decision, the design and specifications of the European Health Insurance Card shall in every EU Member State be established in accordance with Annex I of The Decision. The Decision provides options concerning the visual structure of the card and the physical characteristics. For further information see Appendix 2d-1 -Specification of Annex I of The Administrative Commission’s Decision No S2 of 12 June 2009 concerning the technical specifications of the European Health Insurance Card.

This Appendix 2.d sets out the material specification for theEuropean Health Insurance Card that is being issued in Denmark to the Danish insured citizens, and thereby the valid specifications for production and delivery of the European Health Insurance Card.

This material specification is a guideline. Further reference is made to the interface description of theEuropean Health Insurance Card, Appendix2.j, for a description of the individual data fields.

  1. Structure

Front side:

The overall structure of the card is made as shown above in figure 1 and in accordance with Annex I clause3.2 ofthe Decision.

-Part 1 (cf. figure 1) is dark blue mixed with purple (CMYKreferences for this colour are C78 M65 Y21 K7).

-Part 2 (cf. figure 1) is one tone of grey/blue (CMYK referencesare C33 M21 Y13 K1 for the grey colour and C64 M46 Y16 K2 for the blue) which shades slightly darker from the middle to the sides of the card.The technical details of the colour scheme are available on request to the Secretariat of the Administrative Commission.

-The datafieldis made in accordance with the description in Annex I clause 3 in the Decision.

-A shading effect has been used on part 2 and the data field to create an illusion of relief, with the light coming from the top left corner of the card.

Reverse side:

There is a magnetic stripe and a free area on the reverse side of the card.

The free area on the Danish European Health Insurance Cardcontains the following text:

”EU-SYGESIKRINGSKORT
Kortet er bevis på ret til læge- og sygehusbehandling m.v., der bliver nødvendig under ophold i et EU-land, i Island, Liechtenstein, Norge eller i Schweiz efter EU-reglerne.
Læs mere om brug af kortet i de enkelte lande og om eventuel refusion af udgifter til sygehjælp under rejse i udlandet på
Kortet giver ikke ret til ydelser, hvis formålet med rejsen er at få behandling i udlandet.

Other information concerning the free area on the card can be seen in Annex I clause 3.3.4 of the Decision. The free area is further described inclause 3.2.2 C of the Decision as the area within the lines j and k, and 3 mm below the magnetic stripe.

  1. Colours

The colour scheme of the background is as follows:

Colours for the reverse side:

The colours on the reverse side of the card correspond to the colourson the front side of the card part 1.

  1. Card size: The format of the European Health Insurance Card shall comply with the ID-1 format (53.98 mm high, 85.60 mm wide and 0.76 mm thick) according toISO/IEC 7810:2003.
  1. Type of plastic: PVC or similar.
  2. Lamination:Highglosslamination.
  3. Magnetic stripe: HiCo on 2750 Oe. The size of the magnetic stripe is 12.5 mm x 85.60 mm. The magnetic stripe is positioned 4.5 mm from the top and 17mm from the bottom, measured from the top, in accordance to ISO/IEC 7811-6:2008 & Corr. 1:2010.

Reference is made to Annex I of the Decision for a specification of the requirements for personalisation of the European Health Insurance Card.
