Our current membership numbers are below last year at this time. Our goal is to reach 200+ members by June. Please encourage your friends/family and past members to sign-up with our Club. The price is right for all the activities we put on for our membership.
All members should have received in the mail, a printed AMGC Membership Roster with names, addresses and telephone numbers of all current members. The following two Associate member’s names were omitted from the Membership Roster. Please jot down their name and email address for future reference:
● Dal Hile ● Gerald Oldknow -
The price for “Regular” Membership is now $100.00 and “Associate” Member is $85.00. The increase is due to SCGA member dues and to run AMGC. The New 2012 application is available in this month’s Divot, on-line at or in the Pro Shop. Applications can be dropped off on meeting night, left in the Pro Shop or mailed to: AMGC P.O. Box 164, Alhambra, CA 91802.

Gentlemen, it was a shamble and I was very confused. But, overall played with good friends. The golf course is looking great, and the greens are coming along very nicely. Although I shot a 77, it felt like a 90 for some reason.Anyway, no more crying.
The day of the meeting, Darrel Parker’s name was called. Since he was not present, he lost out on the $280.00 pot.The next meeting’s pot will be over $300. Please be there.
Summer is quickly approaching, which means we more opportunities to play golf.

I hope you all enjoyed our 1st Shamble. What a different way to play this game. Someone suggested that next year, we have a member from the opposing team pick your first tee shot to play from. That would make it very interesting. Had a few mis-understandings on the rules which I thought I covered in the Players Information Sheet. When in doubt, ask questions. Still felt sorry for the players. This was supposed to be a fun event.
I received a lot of good feedback from the members on the Super Seniors (100 Club) teeing from the White Tees. Looking at their scores, I did not see any big differences, so maybe it worked. All of them lost between 2-4 strokes, playing from the White Tees. So I think I will stay with this format for a while.
Highlights:
  • The team of Rod Ridder and Tony Hernandez shot a Gross 136, while the team of Hector Tunstad and Michael Tsumura shot a Net 119. Great job guys!
  • Three of the four Gross Skins came from Par 3-holes. Paul Carrillo on #7, Ron Bermudez on #8, and Bob O’Connor on #11. The other Gross Skin was Joe Slim on #9.
  • Mario Mendoza just missed acing #15 by 1’6”. Well played Mario.
  • The President‘s Cup and 2-Man Team Match Play has been posted in the breezeway. Please make sure that you read the Rules governing these matches and complete each round within the allotted time. I scheduled the first round to be completed by May 31st. Each round thereafter must be completed each month. A Roster was published this year,so if you need a phone number of your next opponent, check your 2012 Roster or try and catch-up with him on the course. Good luck to all!
  • This month’s format is Individual Stroke Play. The deadline for signing-up is Saturday, May 12th. If you are looking for a “Preferred Tee Time,” you have to attend the General Meeting and take part in our “Preferred Tee Time” drawing. Don’t wait for the last minute. If you cannot attend our Meeting, please stop by the Pro Shop anytime and fill out a sign up card and attach your entry fees. The Pro Shop has an envelope for Tournament Play, which I empty once a week. Last resource; send me an email at or call me 714-986-9079.
  • Next month is our Father’s Day Four-man Scramble, with a 7am Shot Gun start. So start getting your group together. Good luck and play well!!!
