The SRE RAMS Scholarship

Description:

This scholarship recognizes students who are interested in Reliability Engineering or closely related fields and who demonstrate promise in their academic and/or professional Reliability Engineering accomplishments. The scholarship is intended to encourage awareness of and participation in Reliability Engineering.

Prizes:

·  Full expenses up to $1200 (travel, lodging, meals, and symposium fees) to January RAMS (www.rams.org).

·  Gratis attendance to the SRE dinner (held during RAMS).

·  Two years paid SRE membership.

Eligibility:

Full-time undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in an accredited engineering, computer science, or other well-defined reliability-related curriculum. At least one course in Reliability Engineering or closely related fields should be included on their program of study. Minimum overall grade point average should be 3.0/4.0.

Basis for Judging:

·  Involvement in reliability-oriented activities. (counts 30%)

·  Academic achievement (with preference given to those who demonstrate excellence in reliability). (counts 30%)

·  Extracurricular activities related to academic/professional activities. (counts 20%)

·  Letter of evaluation from at least one of the instructors who taught you a course with reliability engineering or related content. (counts 20%)

Deadline:

One scholarship will be awarded in December of each year. Material must be submitted by 15 November. All material must be received by the submission deadline.

Submission Requirements:

·  The SRE RAMS Scholarship Application.

·  An essay (not to exceed two pages) describing your academic accomplishments, professionally related activities, work history, career goals, and the relevance of reliability engineering to each of them.

·  An unofficial academic transcript of all courses completed.

·  One or more evaluation letter(s) from the instructor(s) of reliability-related course(s) you have taken.

Notification:

The winner will be notified via e-mail by 15 December and arrangements will be coordinated for travel, lodging, and symposium fees. Additional out of pocket symposium related expenses can be submitted for payment and will be paid directly to the winner following the symposium.

Post Symposium Report:

The winning applicant is expected to submit a written report NLT 15 February following the symposium detailing his/her participation at the symposium.

Certificate:

A framed certificate will be presented to the winner by the SRE President at the SRE dinner.
