Post:GeneralAssistant – Catering and Housekeeping

Responsible to:Catering Operations Supervisor

Job Purpose

As a member of the Catering and Housekeeping Team, contribute to the provision of a quality service to meet standards in line with agreed procedures and provide a warm welcome to all customers and visitors, so that the reputation of Sport Wales National Centre’s Catering and Housekeeping function is maintained and enhanced.

Key Roles

  • Promote a welcoming environment with a high level of Customer Care.
  • Undertake all Food Delivery, Storage, Preparation and Kitchen Operation tasks (Kitchen Porter) as trained, so that high standards of Food Safety and Health and Safety legislation are achieved.
  • Ensure wherever food is served or retail items are sold (including Vending), that it is delivered and presented to a high standard, and kept in a clean and tidy manner in accordance with Food Safety legislation.
  • Undertake all cleaning duties as trained, and in accordance with Sport Wales Food Safety Management System (FSMS).
  • To carry outfood waste, recycling tasks and the safe disposal of catering waste, as trained.
  • To handle cash in a safe and controlled manner, as trained.
  • To carry out Housekeeping duties as required.

Health and Safety

  • To respond to any emergency situations and record all accidents as required.
  • To assist in the evacuation procedures for the Centre.
  • In accordance with the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, to take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work. To co-operate with Sport Wales in compliance with its duties under any health and safety provisions.

General

  • To assist in the training of new employees, including casual staff.
  • To wear the appropriate uniform and maintain a high level of personal hygiene.
  • Comply with any customer service queries: e.g. dealing with customer comments or queries/complaints.
  • To provide assistance to other Sport Wales staff consistent with ensuring that the operational requirements of the Centre are met.
  • To help maintain a tidy and hygienic environment in all areas of the Centre (internal and external).
  • The nature of the post is such that the post holder is required to follow a regular work pattern which may include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays. A degree of flexibility is required as the needs of the business dictates.

Experience and knowledge
Basic food hygiene certificate
Previous experience of working in a restaurant/cafeteria.
Cash handling experience, demonstrating effective numeracy
