POSITION PURPOSE & DESCRIPTION: To lead a team of Youth Workers to provide support and case management to a range young people (aged 14 through to 25) with drug and alcohol issues, their families and carers in the Townsville area ensuring all activities provide quality care under a case management framework and in accordance with established procedures and in a culturally safe and appropriate manner. This role will deliver appropriate drug and alcohol interventions, education and support and assessment and referral services in accordance with the TSA guidelines with the purpose of enhancing services to the community and supporting the achievement of the mission of TSA.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES / PERFORMANCE MEASURES /
Case Management & Reporting
To offer appropriate support to young people within the Bridge Program Case Management framework, education, support including referral and assessment, advocacy, relationship building, development of community support and the development of case plans. Maintain case management documentation, records, reports and data collection.

Education, Training & Referrals
Assist young people to identify and build personal and vocational strengths to develop life and work skills and to build positive social, family and community networks, by the provision of both individual and group life skills activities.
Provide drug and alcohol education within high schools and other institutions and the community and link clients to appropriate training and/or specialist support services (eg substance abuse residential rehabilitation, mental health services, housing, health services). / ·  Development of Life Skills group and individual training programs that are culturally effective and appropriate and meeting client and community needs.
·  Conduct Drug and Alcohol education sessions and provide group work and one to one support to the participants Effective engagement with schools and the community.
·  Effective referral processes and service delivery partnerships is evident.
·  Clients and community service standards are being met
·  TSA core values and behaviours demonstrated and modelled in all work related activities.
Networking & Partnerships
Network and build partnership with relevant Indigenous services both within TSA, the drug and alcohol sector, the youth sector, recreational agencies, education and employment services and the wider community. Represent TSA at Community Sector forums within the Townsville area as required. / ·  Evidence of attendance (where required) at relevant Community Forums, Interagency meetings, seminars and workshops and stakeholder meetings.
·  Evidence of improved linkages between TSA and various community groups, referral agencies.
·  Ensure all government and sponsor funding requirements and timelines are met.
Team Support
Participates in team activities, attends staff meetings when scheduled and demonstrates a supportive approach to other staff members which contributes to the overall team effectiveness. / ·  Be involved in assisting with the compliance for external accreditation if required.
·  Evidence of strong relationships with other team members, which assists in building a cohesive workplace.
·  Demonstrates on a continual basis, a commitment to assisting and supporting colleagues in all workplace activities.
·  Minimum of 80% attendance at all staff meetings.

To meet Occupational Health and Safety obligations in line with TSA Policy & Procedures & relevant legislation. / ·  Appropriate behaviour is evidenced in day to day work activities which do not endanger you or fellow workers.
·  Participation in communication meetings and any organised OH&S training events.
·  No defective tools or equipment are used.
·  Reports all unsafe conditions, practices and hazards to the appropriate manager.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS: / ·  An understanding, empathy, appreciation and the ability to promote the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
·  Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Alcohol and Other Drug Work or Youth Work or a minimum of Diploma Qualifications in Community services,
·  Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
·  QLD Blue Card
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS: / ·  A commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army
OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATON: / ·  If in recovery, a minimum of 2 years recovery is required for this position.
·  Willingness to undertake further training and development
·  Willing to undertake a police check
·  Due to the nature of the service it is imperative that an alcohol, drug and gambling free presence is maintained at all times.

EXPERIENCE: / ·  Experience in Case Management, ideally in a drug and alcohol service delivery environment.
·  Experience in delivering educational presentations on alcohol and drug issues and providing group work and one to one discussion and support.
·  Understanding of the range of issues faced by Indigenous Youth experiencing addictions to alcohol and drugs.
·  Experience in managing a Team
