THE RULES OF WHITKIRK CRICKET CLUB
1. 1. The name of the club shall be the ‘Whitkirk Cricket Club’.
2. 2. The object of the club is to provide cricket facilities for and promote participation of the whole community in the sport of cricket.
3. 3. Membership of the club shall be open to all persons irrespective of ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or beliefs; or of age, sex or disability except as a necessary consequence of the requirements of cricket as a particular sport.
4. The management of the affairs, engagements and concerns of the Club shall be entrusted to a Committee, which shall consist of a President (ex-officio), Chairman, Life Vice Presidents, six Vice Presidents, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Asst. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Asst. Treasurer, Captains, Vice-Captains, and six others elected at the AGM.

a. a. The President shall serve for a term of three years – to be elected at the AGM.
b. b. The Vice-Presidents shall serve for a term of three years – to be elected at the AGM.
c. c. Life Vice-Presidents shall be elected at the AGM.
d. d. All other officers and committee members shall be elected at the AGM.
e. e. Any member of the Committee absenting himself from three consecutive meetings of the Committee without a satisfactory reason, may be disqualified by the Committee and the Committee shall have the power to fill any vacancies arising from this or any other cause.
f. f. The Committee shall have the power to co-opt members should they consider such a course desirable.
g. g. The Committee shall have the power to deal with the funds and property of the Club and to do all things which may be necessary to carry on the Club. They Committee may, provided two thirds of the Committee called expressly for this purpose agree, refuse membership or expel from membership only for good and sufficient cause, such as conduct likely to bring the Club or sport into disrepute. Appeal against such a decision may be made to the Club’s members and decided by majority vote.
h. h. The Committee may delegate any of its powers to a subcommittee, except that of expelling a member.
i. i. A quorum of the Committee (for all purposes excepting that of the selection of a team and the expelling of a member) shall be five Committee men present and a quorum of a sub-committee shall be three men present.
j. j. For the purpose of an emergency, three members of the Committee shall constitute an Emergency Committee.
k. k. The Committee shall have power to frame bye-laws.
5. A General Meeting of the members of the Club, called the Annual General Meeting, shall be held during November in each year to receive the reports of the Committee, the statement of accounts and to elect officers for the ensuing year.

a. a. Notice of such a meeting shall be posted in the Club at least fourteen days before the date of the meeting and shall state the business to be transacted thereat. Nominations for officers for the ensuing year shall be in the hands of the Hon. Secretary not later than seven days prior to the meeting and no nominations shall be made without the consent of the nominee.
b. b. No rule of the Club shall be altered or deleted and no new rule shall be added, except at an AGM or Special General Meeting, and to be adopted, any such alteration, restriction or addition, shall receive the votes of two thirds of the members present, representing not less than fifteen votes. Notice of the proposed alteration, restriction, or addition, must be delivered to the Hon. Secretary in writing not later than 31 August in any year, and a copy of such notice with names of the proposer or proposers shall be posted in the Club with the notice convening the meeting.
c. c. A Special General Meeting may be called on the requisition of twenty members of the Club. Each member of the Club shall receive fourteen days notice of the meeting, with a statement of the business to be transacted thereat.
6. 6. The annual subscription for playing members shall be as follows:
Full Playing Members (including Sunday and Evening fixtures)
£25.00
Playing members not 18 on 1 May £10.00
Non-playing members (incl. Ladies, Children & Senior Citizens)
£ 5.00
a. a. All subscriptions shall fall due on 1 April and must be paid on or before 31 May. Playing members who have not paid by the due date shall not be considered for selection until payment is made.
b. b. Members who have not attained the age of 16 by 1 May shall not have the power to vote at any Annual General Meeting or Special General Meeting of the Club.
7. 7. Every candidate for membership shall be proposed by one member and seconded by another, and the name of the proposed member shall be placed before the Committee for their approval. No new member shall be entitled to the privileges of the Club until their subscription for the season has been paid.
8. 8. Resignation from membership of the Club shall be sent to the Hon. Secretary in writing. Any member submitting his resignation after 1 May shall be liable for his subscription for that season.
9. 9. All members shall notify the Hon. Secretary of any change of address promptly.
10. 10. No person shall be allowed to take off the ground under any pretence whatsoever, any material belonging to the Club without the consent of the Committee.
11. 11. All accounts for the Club each year, shall be audited by up to two Hon. Auditors (not members of the Committee), who shall be elected at the AGM.

13. 12. The Income and Property of the Club shall be applied solely towards promoting the Club’s objects as set forth in these rules and no portion thereof shall be paid or transferred, directly or indirectly, to the members of the Club..
14. 13. In the event of the dissolution of the Club, any assets remaining after the satisfaction of all debts and liabilities shall not be paid to or distributed among the members of the Club, but shall be given or transferred to one or more of the following approved or charitable bodies:.
(a) a. a registered charitable organisation(s),
(b) b. another club which is a registered CASC,
(c) c. the sports national governing body for use by them for related community sports.
15. 14. The Club will comply with the duties placed on it by the ECB. In particular, but not excluding any other requirements, it will comply with the ‘Safe Hands’ policy for safeguarding children.

17. 145. For the avoidance of doubt, words relating to the masculine gender include the feminine gender.
18. 156. A copy of these rules and bye-laws shall be posted in the pavilion.
