Job Title: / Learning Supporter
Salary: / £8.25 - £9.15 per hour
Accountable to: / Senior Learning Supporter

The Role of the Learning Supporter:

The ability to work safely and in compliance with regulatory, contractual and internal requirements in orderthat the learners we support feel safe and confident when supported by able2achieve.

KPIs:

  • Regularly reviews and updates of the Care Plan and Risk Assessments relating to learnersmaking amendments as necessary.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and adherence to local safeguarding procedures i.e. who to contact, correct procedure
  • Highlights and reports any concerns through line management to ensure safe working practice and accountability.
  • Demonstrates understanding of an adherence to safe workingpractices to promote own safety and safety of others.

Being People Centred

The Learning Supporter role is vital in supporting learners to achieve the things that matter to them. This means helping Learners to make informed choices and decisions by exploring and accessing opportunities that support learning and developing a lifestyle that is both meaningful and rewarding.

KPIs:

  • Can demonstrate they are able to challenge and engage a wide range of learners by working effectively as part of a key-working team to meet the needs of the learners we support.
  • Encourage individual rights and independence whilst creating opportunities to develop individuals.
  • Demonstrate a person centred approach whilst supporting learners within their role ensuring the physical, emotional and cultural well-being of all individuals is actively promoted.
  • Demonstrate providing support for learners that identifies how they want to spend their money and support them to do so in line with their budgetary restraints. (if identified need)
  • Demonstrate that you are enabling learners and supporting to access the community (which may include holidays, outings and appointments)
  • To raise any concerns regarding individuals and the service (including health and safety issues and the environment) with the appropriate manager or social landlords.
  • Demonstrates a person centred approach whilst supporting learners
  • Works effectively with others in the team or wider organisation to support successful transition and achievement for learners.

Effective Communication

The Learning Supporter has an active role in delivering effective learning and should demonstrate this through timely and effective recording and reporting. This involves contributing to individual plans and paperwork used to support our work with learners in a way that is fair and respectful. It also helps the company to show that it is compliant with regulatory, contractual and internal requirements.

KPIs:

  • Working actively to maintain contacts and enable individuals to take part in community activities.
  • To actively liaise with families and friends in a way that promotes and encourages open communication and feedback.
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with family members and friends in a way that promotes and encourages open communication and feedback.
  • Ensuring that the appropriate, accurate and timely records are kept in respect of finances, incidents and accidents, support plans, risk assessments, reviews and other systems in place
  • Completes reports demonstrating learner progress and achievement.
  • Update Support Plans, Risk assessments and Tutorials encouraging leaner involvement through the promotion of learner voice.
  • Record and report any concerns or issues both internally and to within the team and the relevant external bodies i.e. CQC, Safeguarding, Local Authority.

Working Together

The Learning Supporter needs to work as part of a team and is expected to work effectively and collaboratively with all colleagues in support to the learners.

KPIs:

  • To work effectively as a team member and actively promote teamwork and team building which involves taking part in hand-overs and contributing to agenda/discussions at staff meetings.
  • The Learning Supporter shall read, implement, contribute, review and maintain the individual support plans.
  • The Learning Supporter shall help individuals identify their needs, aspirations & support them to achieve their goals.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for able2achieve, commitment to team and company through good attendance and time keeping.
  • Contributes good ideas and solutions to supporting colleagues.
  • Embraces feedback and coaching given to support own performance. Taking responsibility for own performance and development highlighting areas for improvement during supervisions and appraisals / meetings.
  • Develops positive working relationships with all stakeholders liaising appropriately with Professionals (Doctors, Nurses etc.) in the lives of people we support

The Learning Supporter is accountable for ensuring that the care plan and risk assessments are effectively delivered to their learners.

KPIs:

  • Delivers high quality learning and assessment to underpin high levels of achievement for all learners.
  • Ensure equality of treatment for all learners by researching and using effectively differentiated resources and strategies.
  • Strives for outstanding results i.e. learner outcomes and observations and directs learning support effectively.
  • Evidence of working within able2achieve policies and procedures in a professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality with regard to individuals, able2achieve and other staff members including the use of social media.
  • Ensure that your practice meets able2achieve quality standards.
  • To have a commitment to personal development including undertaking mandatory training and actively participating in regular support and supervision and appraisal processes.
