STUDENT INSTRUCTIONS

The purpose of the L. Margret Riedel Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to actively involved and academically successful Findlay High School graduates desiring to attend/ attending a four-year college or university.

Standards for Determining Eligibility of Students:

  • The applicant must be a Findlay High School graduate and must be a previous Riedel Scholarship awardee.
  • Although financial need is not a determining factor, it is a consideration.
  • The applicant must be involved in college/community activities.
  • The student must maintain a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA with documentation from the most current semester or quarter transcript from college.
  • Students who receive full scholarship support from other organizations or institutions will not be considered for this scholarship.
  • Failure to follow instructions for receiving/forwarding payment will be noted and you will NOT be considered for a renewal the following year.

Applicant Information:

Applications for the L. Margaret Riedel Scholarship Renewal will be available on February 1 of each year in the Findlay High School Counseling Office or may be downloaded from the Findlay High School Scholarship page of the high school’s website at: All applications must be returned to the Findlay High School Counseling Office no later than April 6 at 3:00pm. Applications must be typed or legibly printed in ink. The student will make application on the designated form and provide the following additional information:

Collate and staple multiple copies into 4 separate packets: (Failure to do so will result in the disqualification of your application)

  • One (1) copy of the application including Financial Aid Office Address and Student ID Number
  • One (1) copy of a typewritten essay describing why they merit this scholarship, what they have done since graduation, and future plans/goals. The essay should not exceed two double-spaced pages.
  • One (1) cumulative official college transcript from the most recent semester/quarter.
  • One (1) copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) including the EFC number.

*Please note, you only need to supply one (1) official transcript. We will open and make the necessary copies of your transcript.*
