PTA Ceilidh
The PTA family ceilidh is on tomorrow night from 6.30-9.30 pm. It is always a very popular event, with a band, bar and tuck shop and great fun for parents and children to let their hair down and have fun.
Scottish Opera
The P5s had an afternoon workshop this week in preparation for their showcase to parents on Thursday at 2.30pm. Mr commented that Corstorphine was the best school he has ever worked with so we are sure this is going to be a fantastic event.
Parking
We realise that parking can be a problem with the construction work limiting the available spaces but please keep the zigzags and school crossing patrol areas clear. I cannot emphasise enough how important it is to keep these areas clear of traffic. Parking in these restricted areas means that you are putting children in unnecessary danger. Please ensure you aredriving around the school with due care and attention to make sure we keep everyone safe.
Literacy week
There are lots of exciting events coming up to celebrate world book day. We have author events over the next couple of weeks, supported by our PTA. There will also be a book swap so if you have any pre-loved good quality books please look them out. P3/4, 4A and 4B will be sharing some of their writing with families on Friday 3rd March.
Red Nose Day 24th March
Although we will not be officially promoting Red Nose Day in Corstorphine this year we are happy for children to wear red noses, t-shirts, deeley boppersetc that day if they wish to support the cause. We will ask that they remove them and wear school uniform for the Growth Mindset Assembly though! We will use Creative Hub time on Friday 17th March for children to create their own red noses if they wish.
Nursery Update
The new nursery has really shot up this week and the roof should be fitted next week. Here are some pictures if you haven’t had a chance to come and have a look.
Project Play phase one has also begun with
evidence of the old tarmac being removed.
P7 Debating
Our P7s will be joined by Craigmount High School Staff on Thursday to give them an introduction to debating in preparation for a transition event later in the session. Debating is something that our literacy group would like to introduce right through the school so this will be a great start.
Easter Egg Donations
It’s the countdown to Easter and we are looking for chocolate egg donations for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. We are hoping to collect enough small (cream egg size) eggs to provide one per child and a smaller number of next-size-up eggs for one winner from each class. If anyone would like to donate an egg or two, please send them in to class teachers. Thank you!
Shelter Bake Sale
This afternoon four very enterprising P7s planned, organised and ran a very successful bake sale with all proceeds going to Shelter. They managed to raise £137 in under half an hour. Thank you for all the hard work Grace, Emma, Zoe and Hannah and families (and Mrs Gillies)!
French Phrase of the Week
