In Bobby’s line of work, he has to defend his clients – whether they are guilty or innocent. It would be very hard work to defend someone you knew would be guilty (dealing with ethics). If you knew that someone was innocent it would be very hard to deal with the fact that if you didn’t do your best your innocent client would be found guilty.

Overrule means that the judge has overruled the objection and that questioning can continue.

Cross examination means that you have the opportunity to ask questions to the witness. (Or it may be called to “cross”)

Yes, the girl was guilty of concealment, she was concealing it in her room for her brother. But was found not guilty by a jury.

  1. When Eugene was questioning Mr. Hollstead he was asking “are you going to do this again” (talking about his indecent exposure), do you believe as a lawyer that is his role? Why or why not?

Eugene’s role as a defence lawyer is to try to get his client acquitted of all charges, Eugene was playing the part of a human, trying to get his client to stop doing things that are unethical. Dealing with the ethics of the case.

  1. What was Anderson Pearson proposing to Lindsay when he asked her to settle for $18,000? Where were these funds going to come from?

Anderson Pearson said that he wanted to settle the case for $18,000 to recup his losses. He was then going to charge Michael’s under legal fees. This way, the client didn’t know that they had been paid off.

  1. What did Bobby mean by the following statement; “If I don’t give the closing of my life tomorrow, a 17 year old girl will lose her life – probably forever”

Bobby felt that if he didn’t convince the jury in his closing sentence, then he would then lose the case, and then his client would go to jail for at least 15 years and then never be able to get over it for the rest of her life, meaning that would ruin her life (for the rest of her life).

    Bobby was talking to the jury about the rules of things that he is allowed to say in front of the jury, he was saying that he is not allowed to say someone is innocent if he knows in fact that they are not innocent. He then said that he knew Racheal to be innocent, and therefore, she should be acquitted.
