Communications Officer

The position is based in the London Office.

Head of Communications.

  1. Job Purpose:

The Communications Officer will provide direct support to the Head of Communications in the London Office by being responsible for digital communications, including the website and social media, and by providing design and development support, marketing and the development of materials for external communication using traditional communications channels.

  1. Duties and Responsibilities:

Digital Media

  1. Implement AMAR’s social media campaigns; manage AMAR’s social media presence across multiple channels and provide support to AMAR staff on their use of social media;
  2. Implement the next phase of our global website refresh project to make our website more engaging and user-friendly across all devices, in line with overall strategic aspirations;
  3. Coordinate an online publishing schedule and create high quality and engaging written, visual and multimedia content for AMAR’s website;
  4. Work closely with the Head of Communications and other relevant key personnel to generate ideas for stories, interviews and other online multimedia material;
  5. Grow knowledge of key strategic audiences for increased effectiveness of AMAR’s digital communications. Focus on audience satisfaction by implementing and running customer feedback mechanism;
  6. Monthly progress reports and analysis of all web related activities;
  7. Seek niche sites and other online marketing opportunities to increase brand awareness and online private fundraising.

Traditional Media

  1. Work with key in-house departments to produce regular AMAR newsletters, Annual Reports and other publications;
  2. Work with the Fundraising team to develop material and publicity for fundraising events and appeals;
  3. Deal with incoming media enquiries quickly and effectively, writing press releases and proactively pitching stories;
  4. Develop, implement and evaluate communications campaigns with the Head of Communications;
  5. Draft accurate and compelling copy for a variety of different audiences.

Other Tasks

  1. Undertaking any other ad-hoc tasks required in furtherance of the AMAR Foundation’s aims and objectives.

  1. Essential Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience
  2. Experience of communications either gained through education, training or work - a combination of all three would be desirable;
  3. Experience of working in an office;
  4. Experience of working as part of a team;
  5. Excellent web editing and writing skills;
  6. Experience of creating multimedia content and web development projects;
  7. Strong IT skills must include all of the following:
  8. Microsoft Outlook
  9. Microsoft Word
  10. Wordpress
  11. Adobe Photoshop
  12. Adobe Premiere
  1. Desirable Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience
  2. Knowledge of Publisher and PowerPoint;
  3. Experience of working in a pressurised environment;
  4. Experience and knowledge of the Middle East.
  1. Other Provisions
  2. The Communications Officer maybe required to travel from time-to-time, together with the other members of staff or separately in order to carry out the tasks required;
  3. The Communications Officer will perform his or her duties at all times in line with the AMAR Foundation’s established ethos and standard operating procedures, and in accordance with the specific provisions of his or her separate contract document.
