  1. PURPOSE

The purpose of this policy is to determine and document the work principles of student employees directed to Koç University SunaKıraç Library for three separate academic semesters by the Dean of Students’ Office.

  1. DEFINITIONS
  2. Student Employee

It defines the students that have applied and been accepted for the hourly job vacancies that have been announced in the University.

5.2.Counselor

It defines persons that work on a one-on-one basis with the students, assigning and inspecting work an informing Library Director about the summation of work hours at the end of month.

  1. METHODOLOGY
  2. The student candidates that wish to work at the Library in each academic semester (Fall, Spring and Summer) apply to the Dean of Students’ Office. This includes the student that wish to continue working at the Library and they must repeat their applications at the beginning of each semester.

6.2.The Library is responsible for assigning work to student employees and following the work hours.

6.3.Dean of Students’ Officeshould address any and all issues to Library Director.

6.4.Each assigned student is subjected to a short interview by Library Director. At the end of the interview, the student’s major, class, level of English, computer skills are evaluated in order to direct the student to a department where he/she will be more beneficial or that need support.

6.5.The personnel assigned as advisors work on a one-on-one basis with the students directed to them, assign them daily tasks and follow the work hours.

6.6.Student employees are expected to work a maximum of 20 hours. If they work less than 20 hours, only the hours they put in is reported to Dean of Students’ Office.

6.7.Student employees receive the necessary training according to the department they work in. After the training, they are assigned to various tasks such as book placement, shelf replacement, labeling, processing of the books and other resources, computer inspection and cassette conversion.

6.8.On the last Thursday of every month, the student advisor enters the summation of the work hours of the student in question into the table belonging to the relevant academic semester under F:/SHARE/LIB/Ogrenci_Asistan_Saatleri.

6.9.The work hours recorded by the advisors are entered into the University’s KUAIS system under the title of “Work Study Std”, into the “Approve” area by Library Director. Thus, the work hours are reported to Dean of Students’ Office on a monthly basis.

6.10.In case of a serious problem with a student employee, the issue is reported to Dean of Students’ Office by Library Director and the necessary solutions are sought.

6.11.School of Nursing Library is excluded from this program.

Library Director is responsible for the revision and updating of this policy. The revision is made in the month of August every year.
