THE PAUL WHITFIELD HORN FELLOWSHIPS

A Project of the University Women’s Club

STATEMENT FOR APPLICANTS

One or more fellowships may be awarded at the discretion of the Paul Whitfield Horn Fellowship Committee. The fellowship shall be awarded only to a woman accepted for graduate study and working toward a degree at Texas Tech University.

The following factors will be considered in making the award:

1.  Professional achievements and potential for outstanding professional accomplishment.

2.  Academic ability, both demonstrated and potential.

3.  Character.

4.  Financial need.

5.  Likelihood of completing the degree in a timely fashion.

Preferences will be given to the applicant who has attained the highest level; whenever possible, the fellowship will be given to a woman who previously has earned a Master’s degree and who is working toward a Doctor’s degree.

STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY

The Fellowships were established in the belief that the woman who reaches her goal will be more likely to fulfill the promise of her ability.

Incomplete applications will be removed from consideration!

Forward the following items to the committee chairperson before the application deadline:
