The passage and subsequent launch of the 2014 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) was vital to the modernization of the nation’s workforce development and Unemployment Insurance (UI) systems. Since its passage, WIOA has encouragedcollaborative efforts and demand integrated,multi-faceted service delivery systems at the local and state level.
WIOA required a unified plan, inclusive of all core programs under the Act. The ultimate goal was to improve service delivery and workforce system access for job seekers and employers, nationwide. Many states proactively took the step to modernize their workforce systems, effectively bridging the gap between workforce development and unemployment.
Geographic Solutions has developed and effectively implemented two unemployment solutions–the Reemployment Exchange® (REX) and the Geographic Solutions Unemployment System (GUS)® – designed specifically toexpedite the UI claims and appeals process, reduce unemployment claim durations, and ultimately lessen the depletion of state trust funds, saving states millions of dollars annually. Geographic Solutions has been consistentlyeffective in migrating numerous legacy UI and workforce systemsto modernized, integrated systems.
All of Geographic Solutions’ sites have been designed to be responsive to the guidelines and requirements set forth by WIOA– many of which will be highlighted at the 2018 Workforce Technology Conference.
The 2018 conference agenda will have an entire track dedicated to reemployment-specific sessions including topics such as detecting and deterring unemployment fraud, fictitious employers, navigating the UI appeals process, tax collection best practices, dealing with security threats, benefit collections-best practices, client case studies, and more.
It would be of benefit to both myself and my agency to learn as much as I can about the benefits of an integrated site, as well as best practices for utilizing the newest WIOA functionality. In doing so, I am requesting to be granted approval to register. The conference will also give me the opportunity tonetwork with agencies that currently useunemployment benefit solutions developed and hosted byGeographic Solutions.
