PARISH CARE UPDATE

Because of your generous response to our Parish Care Campaign, we have been able to pay for not only all of our expenses for mailings and other related materials, but also we have had enough support to cover our snow removal, heating bills and ice melt from the very cold and snowy winter season this year. Our post pledge campaign has also given us many additional one time gifts that have helped us to pay off some other outstanding bills. For this we are truly thankful to the wonderful caring and supportive parishioners who have sacrificed to help our parish.

If you have not yet had the opportunity to commit to a weekly offering, please consider doing so by filling out a card. They are at the back of the church. Keep in mind that whatever you can give in a weekly pledge will help us to carry on with so many important and worthwhile ministries offered here. May God bless any effort you can give to support your parish family! (In the Fall we will have a Ministry Fair to complete our Parish Care Campaign with an emphasis on Time and Talent. More details to follow.

INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC???

SMART MONEY

Available YEAR ROUND - and - A NEW SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Smart Money can be purchased during the School Year on Wednesdays in the lobby of Our Lady of Peace. For everyone’s convenience, it is available the entire year at both Our Lady of Snows (M-F during office hours) and St. Gregory’s Rectories (M-F during office hours and after Masses on Sunday).

Smart Money can work for EVERY family. Each location that sells Smart Money has a wide variety of gift cards & certificates available for purchase. They each carry Weis (5%), Gerrity’s (5%), Giant (5%), Price Chopper (5%), Wegman’s (3%), Schiffs (6%), Walmart (2.5%), Macy’s (9%), JCPenney’s (5%), Old Navy/Gap (9%), Everything Natural (10%) & Pet Supplies Plus (10%)!! Just give it a try for 1 month…see how easy it is.

Your purchase can benefit a student from YOUR FAMILY attending OLP or can go toward a SCHOLARSHIP FUND. This year we would like to be able to give at least 5-10 need based scholarships of $500 each to a family with children attending OLP. With your help, that number could be doubled! Simply go to one of the purchase locations, give them the name of who you want your purchase credit to go toward, a family name or “scholarship”, and leave with your gift card/certificate – you’ve just helped a student get a Catholic Education!

Parish Care Ministry Fair

Our Parish Care Campaign began with asking our parishioners for an offering of their time, talent and treasure. We started in Lent with the weekly giving-the treasure portion of the formula. On Sunday, September 7, 2014 we will be holding a Ministry Fair at Our Lady of the Snows Parish to introduce all of the parish ministries to our parishioners. Please set aside this date so you will be able to join us for the time and talent segment of Parish Care. We will be sharing information about all the wonderful ministries here at OLS while at the same time celebrating all the gifts God has given us to share with our parish community.

SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

Every one of us desires to be in a deeper relationship with God. We all seek a more intimate experience of God and God’s love for us. This longing for God is natural. By entering into Spiritual Direction, we can learn how to find God in all things, our lives, our work and our families. Direction with a trained Director can help us to a deeper understanding and appreciation of God’s love for each of us individually. It can help us see where and how God is in our life each moment of every day. It helps us to make good decisions. If you might be interested in learning more about Spiritual Direction contact Denny Dawgert, MD, at 570-587-5437.

Only you can help…please read on.

Side By Side is a network of people in our parish who have experienced a difficult situation or “cross” in their life, (cancer, amputation, mastectomy, miscarriage, SIDS, MultipleSclerosis, Alzheimer’s Disease, death of a child, caring for an elderly parent, unwed pregnancy, child on drugs, etc.) Are you willing to simply talk to someone who is going through a similar situation? Are you willing to help another by sending a card, or making a phone call telling someone you understand? Then your help is needed in the Side By Side Ministry. The Apostle Paul implores us to“Bear one another’s burdens”, and there is no one who can bear another’s burden as well as someone who has been there himself/herself .All information is held in confidence. For more information about this ministry or to help out please call Nettie Goldate, Director of Family Ministry
