SWIMMING 2017

Dear Family

We are delighted to be able to offer swimming sessions in our own pool again this year; the pool is now full and almost ready for use.

We are optimistic that swimming will start during the week commencing 15th May and we aim for each class to have a minimum of two sessions per week. This starting date is dependent on outside temperature. As swimming is part of the National Curriculum requirements for PE, we expect all children to take part in this activity.

Children will need to bring:

  • Swimwear – a one-piece costume for girls and swimming trunks or shorts for the boys. Please note that bikinis and long/baggy swimming shorts are not acceptable
  • a towel (preferably named)
  • footwear to walk from the changing rooms to poolside (flip-flops are ideal)
  • a swimming hat (St Catherine’s hats are available from the school office priced £3)

Please do not allow your child to bring talcum powder as this can make the changing room floor slippery.

All earrings must be removed prior to swimming and handed to the class teacher who will keep them safe until after the session.

In order to offer in-house swimming, we obviously incur major running costs and we would therefore like to request that allfamilies make a contribution towards their child’s swimming sessions. We are requesting the sum of £15 per child and an additional £10 for any siblings. We are sure that you will agree that this offers excellent value for money; for just over £1 per session, as we offer a unique opportunity for your child to learn to swim and develop water confidence in a safe learner pool.

If you would like to help during school swimming sessions (not just for your own child’s class, but throughout the school), please let your child’s teacher know, or indicate on the slip below. We would welcome your support for this activity.

Finally, please can we ask that you complete and return the attached slip as soon as possible to indicate details of payments you have made towards your child’s swimming sessions and swimming hat.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Wallis and Mrs Staiano
