The Open World Leadership Center and World Services of La Crosse with The Honorable
John R. Tunheim, U.S. District Judge, will host a delegation of judges and court officials from the Republic of Georgia April 1 – 9, 2011. We invite the Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Twin Cities Metro area citizen diplomats to join us in welcoming this delegation to Minnesota. The delegation will include five judges or other court officials and one English speaking facilitator.

Open World is designed to enhance understanding and capabilities for cooperation between the United States and the countries of Eurasia and the Baltic States by developing a network of leaders in the region who have gained significant, firsthand exposure to America’s democratic, accountable government and free-market system. Funded almost entirely by the U.S. Congress, Open World links Members of Congress to Eurasian leaders and is an instrument for Americans engaged in citizen diplomacy.
World Services of La Crosse invites you to join with us in hosting this group of Georgian judicial leaders. How you can help:
1) Home host one or more of the delegates.
Each guest must have a private bedroom—bathroom may be shared with the family
Provide guest with morning and evening meals
Involve delegate in family, neighborhood, and community events
Provide transportation to a designated meeting place each day.
Delegates will have a professional program scheduled Monday – Friday business hours
2) Identify opportunities for the delegates to participate in evening / week-end activities related to the professional and social life of Americans.
3) Interested in learning about the legal system in the Republic of Georgia? Efforts to modernize and transform judicial process in a former Soviet Union country? World Services will plan an opportunity for the delegates to share their work in Georgia as well as increase understanding by Americans about life in Georgia.
