The objectives and tasks(targets) of the Lesson

Developing communicative abilities of primary school pupils, developing communicative courtesy, developing an interest to children’s life in Britain and to their folklore, providing the psychologic adaptation to the new linguistic world.

Setting up a model for good social behaviour, developing abilities of using in speech expressions: “I like….” “I don’t like…..” “Can I have ?” “ Do you like….?” Widening the vocabulary denoting food

Learning objectives: linguistic, cognitive, and social.

Linguistic objectives:

  1. Reacting to flashcards by naming the objects.
  2. Understanding simple messages and demonstrating comprehension verbally and non verbally (listening and answering YES or NO. Listening and numbering pictures)
  3. Using language creatively (playing games, role play)
  4. Asking and answering simple questions about themselves, pairwork dialogues, answering the teacher’s questions.
  5. Getting used to the sounds and stress-patterns of English(Reciting a chant and singing a song, repeating words spoken by the teacher or played on the recording)

Cognitive objects:

  1. Training memory
  2. Developing concentration (Listening to and recognizing the words, building up a coherent picture of daily life in another culture)
  3. Developing non-linguistic skills (drawing, making a poster)
  4. Solving puzzles (Doing a word searcher, a crossword)
  5. Developing the ability to make hypotheses (Using the pictures to predict the topic of the lesson, the plot of the song)

Social objectives:

  1. Appreciating reading and listening for pleasure
  2. Interacting socially (Learning courtesy exchanges, setting up a model for good behaviour and introducing set phrases for social interaction)
  3. Participating in games (Whole class and group games, guessing games)
  4. Co-operating with their classmates (Working in pairs)
  5. Taking an interest in their own and other cultures
