The Northeast Kansas Pro-Life Action League Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from any public or private schoolof the five northeast Kansas counties (Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, and Nemaha).

The selection of a recipient will be based on academic achievement, two letters ofrecommendation, and a 300-500 word typed essay on the topic of Abortion: A Devastating Choice. The writer may explore the negative consequences of an abortion for all involved—the baby, mother, father, extended family and society.

Recipients will be selected without regard to race, color, religion, gender, age, or national origin.

Selection Criteria

The criteria for selection are as follows:

  1. Applicant must be a senior in any high school from the five northeast Kansas counties (Atchison, Brown, Doniphan,Jackson, or Nemaha)
  2. Applicant must have a high school grade point average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
  3. Applicant must intend to become a full-time student (minimum of 12 credit hours) at a trade school, community college, college or university
  4. Applicant must submit a completed application form
  5. Applicant must submit a typed essay of 300-500 words on the topic of Abortion: A Devastating Choice. The writer may explore the negative consequences of an abortion for all involved—the baby, mother, father, extended family and society.
  6. Applicant must enclose two letters of recommendation

Payment Procedures

If at all possible, the scholarship award will be made directly to the educational institution for credit toward the scholarship recipient’s tuition and expenses. The total amount of the scholarship will be awarded as one installment and is non-renewable. The size of the scholarship will be determined by the amount of contributions the pro-life organization raises. Last year each scholarship recipient was awarded a $500 scholarship to be used either at a college or university, a community college, or a trade school.
