NEW YORK, March 1st, 1956:

Andy Allen, a young teen known to be in the Royals gang, has been found stabbed todeath in an alley. Sixteen year old Andy lived in the Projects in the Bronx. Police have no current suspects, but are aware that the Royals and The Guardians, another gang, are in a deadly war.

Police investigators have placed Andy’s time of death at around 11:50 PM last night. Policeman DanielDavis found Andyat 12:15 AM this morning, after Andy’s girlfriend Laura Lee called 911.

After the murder Laura reported that, “He left the dance to get some cigarettes, and was gone a long time. I started to get worried and when I came out into the back alley, I found him lying there in a pool of blood”.Laura said she is devastated because she sawAndy searching on Google where to buy engagement rings, and knew he was going to ask to marry her.

So far, very few witnesses have come forward regarding this case. Angela and Freddy, two of the witnesses, are a couple who saw Andy shortly after he had been stabbed but while he was still alive in the alley. “It was dark, and pouring rain when we saw Andy” said Angela trying to hold back tears. “We knew helping would be the right thing to do, but when wesaw his Royals jacket, we didn't want to get involved,” she continued. Freddy, Angela’s boyfriend, told authorities,“I didn’t know how badly he was injured, and nowwe will never forgive ourselves for what happened”.

The last witness is a manwalking back from a local bar.He has told investigators that at the time he was intoxicated, and didn't realize Andy had been stabbed. “I assumed the boy was drunk, but after I saw his Royals jacket,I thought I would do him a favour by not calling the cops” the man said. “Now I realize calling the cops may have saved his life”.

Andy’s death now marks the 7th gang related death in the past 2 months. Police have acknowledged that gang wars are getting increasingly violent. Additional investigators have been assigned to this case to put an end to these preventable murders.
