January 18, 2018

Dear Coach,

The New Jersey District Congress has been scheduled for February 24, 2018 and will be held at Montville Twp. HS during the same time as the concurrent regular season tournament. This is done so that we can take advantage of a large pool of judges that will be there for the day’s events. Information regarding the Montville Tournament is already available on www.speechwire.com. Registration for all District Tournaments must be completed at www.tabroom.com; District Congress by Friday, February 16, 2018. The snow date for this event will be at a site to be determined if snow should occur on Feb. 24. Legislation will be due on Tuesday, February 13th.

The New Jersey District Tournament will be held for all NJ District members at Delbarton School on Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24, 2018. If you want to participate, make certain that you have paid your NSDA dues and any outstanding balances for new members. All materials regarding registration MUST be completed by Friday, March 16, the first day of the State Tournament at Hunterdon Central. Please be vigilant about paying dues, recording points, and making certain, that at the very least, you have had your competitors register as a member of the NSDA, so that their degrees will count towards your point total. You will know that a member has completed the process if a check appears to the right of his or her name. We would like to continue to be recipients of the bonus entries going forward, so PLEASE be vigilant regarding this process. As of this writing, our District’s point recording is down by 84%. I know it is a new system that takes getting used to, and that auto-post is not as accessible as we would like. SO…please just find the time to update your points, and your degrees.

Discard all old manuals and familiarize yourself with the new manual found at the NSDA website. Several language changes should make the process run more smoothly. This tournament is long and intense, designed for optimum fairness and preparation for the National Tournament in Ft. Lauderdale. Be patient with the District Committee as we fulfill our obligations to follow the rules.

All original documents with necessary signatures must be handed in order for your students to participate. Be proactive in your responsibility. ALL guidelines for registration can be found in the District Manual. Particulars concerning our tournament can be found on the checklist. To avoid disqualification, PLEASE make certain all rules regarding interpretation and public address are followed implicitly.

You are required to register at www.tabroom.com. All original documents and fees must be handed in the day of the tournament.

Sincerely,

Mary T. Gormley, NJ District Chair
