- SPORTING REGULATIONS – GENERAL
1.1TITLE & JURISDICTION
The MSA British Drag Racing Championship 2018 is organised and administered by the Santa Pod Racers Club in accordance with the General Regulations of the Royal Automobile Club Motor Sports Association (incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the FIA) and these Championship Regulations.

1.3COMPETITOR ELIGIBILITY
1.3.1Entrants must be in possession of a valid 2018 MSA Entrants Licence or equivalent issued by a foreign ASN, which has to be endorsed with an E.U. flag.
1.3.2Driver and Entrant/Drivers must have registered for the Championship and be in possession of a valid MSA Competition International/National A Licenceor be a professional driver in possession of a valid Licence (featuring an E.U. flag) and medical, issued by the ASN of a member country of the European Union.
1.3.3All necessary documentation must be presented for checking at all rounds when signing-on.
1.4 REGISTRATION
1.4.1Drivers or teams must register with Santa Pod Racers Club by e-mail or post that they intend to enter the Championship.
1.4.2There is no fee for registration.
1.4.3The closing date will be 21 or 28 days before any Championship round.

1.6SCORING
1.6.1(i)Qualifying points
Qualifying positions will be awarded points as follows:

If only qualifying is completed at an event, all competitors will receive 1st round loser points (up to the maximum 16th qualifier). Where applicable, all competitors below the 16th qualifying position will receive 10 points if attempted a qualifying run.

All Six rounds will count towards Championship points.
1.6.1(iii)Bonus points
Additional points are awarded as follows:
10 points to each contestant who attempts 1 qualifying run;
5 points to the competitor who achieves the lowest ET of the event during qualifying or eliminations;
100 points for attending all 5 rounds.
(iv)If a competitor cannot make it to the first round, or cannot attempt to qualify, she/he will earn 10 points if her/his entry form has been approved, and her/his car has passed scrutineering inspection at the event.
(v)Competing drivers are to determine lane choice by elapsed times. The driver with the better qualifying ET gets first round lane choice, and in subsequent rounds, lane choice goes to the driver with the lower ET in the previous round. In emergency qualifying or eliminations (due to adverse weather etc), lane choice by a coin flip or a random draw lane assignment may apply.
(vi)If a qualified car and driver is unable to make the first round of eliminations (unable to reach the burn-out area), an alternate (if applicable) will be inserted in their place. The quickest non-qualifier will take the first available space, the second quickest non-qualifier the next available space and so on. When and if this would happen is at the sole discretion of the Race Director. All first round points and cash awards will remain with the qualified driver. Alternates will not be eligible for any round points, regardless of how far they advance past round one. The cash award paid to the alternate will be less the amount paid to the original qualifier.
1.6.2In the event of a tie between two or more competitors, the following sequence will be used to obtain a result:
1.Most Winner points;
2.Most Runner-Up points;
3.Most No. 1 Qualifier points.
Should none of these be effective, the Championship Organisers will specify the method to reach a solution.
1.6.3An appeal against points awarded (or not awarded) in the Championship must be lodged within seven days of the first publication of the points in dispute in an official document (ref 2018 MSA Yearbook Section C.6.5.1.
1.6.4Appeals arising out of a Championship classification or points will be adjudicated upon by the Championship Stewards appointed for that purpose by the Championship Organisers (ref 2018 MSA Yearbook Section C.6.5.1.
1.7AWARDS
1.7.1The overall Championship Winner will be awarded a Challenge Trophy which will remain the property of the MSA and in addition will be presented with a trophy retained. The Winner will also receive an invitation (plus one guest) to attend the 2018 Night of Champions, held at Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall. The Winner must ensure they make themselves available for this event which is currently scheduled for usually the 3rd weekend in January 2018. Trophies will also be presented to the Competitors finishing second and third overall in the Championship.

- TECHNICAL REGULATIONS
3.1A National Championship for Pro Modified complying with the 2018MSA Drag Race Yearbook.
3.2Practice and Qualification
3.2.1Drivers must attempt one qualifying run;
3.2.2Only runs made during a correct qualifying session shall count towards an elimination position;
3.2.3The crossing of a boundary line during burnout, reversing or a run will be declared a non-scoring run;
3.2.4A red light (false start) will not apply;
3.2.5Lane pairings and order for qualifying will be in accordance with the system used for FIA events;
3.2.6There should be a minimum of 2 qualifying sessions scheduled on each day of qualifying at each event, where possible.
3.3Race and Start Procedure
3.3.1The race format will be Heads Up/Pro Tree. Ateach event a minimum of three and a maximum of 6 qualifyingsessions should be scheduled, of which at least one session must be completed. At Event Rounds 1, 3,4 and 6 all cars will qualify up to a maximum of 16. If 13 or more cars qualify then the maximum number of cars taking part in first round elimination will be 16. At Event Round 3 the organizer has the right to amend the prize fund structure if deemed necessary. At Event Rounds 2 and 4 the maximum number of cars taking part in first round elimination will be 16.For 8 cars or less FIAprogressive ladders will be used. The minimum number of qualified cars for a 16 car ladder is 13. All eliminations will takeplace on the final day of the event unless more than 13 cars are inthe first round of the elimination, in which case the first round cantake place on the day before the final day of theevent or on thefinal day of the event. The system of qualifying and eliminations isdescribed in the FIA Drag Racing Regulations. For all event roundsthe FIA qualifying and eliminations will be in force.
3.3.2A Pro-Elimination ladder will be used.
