MORAY AND NAIRN EDUCATIONAL TRUST SCHEME, 1935

Conditions of Award of Grants

1.Under the above-mentioned Scheme, the Education and Social Services Committee has powers to make grants for various purposes, details of which are given in paragraph4 below.

2.Grants can normally be made only to -

(1)Persons resident in the former combined County of Moray and Nairn,

(2)School pupils or young persons attending Moray and Nairn schools or further education centres,

(3)School pupils whose parents are resident in Morayshire or Nairnshire,

(4)Moray and Nairn schools and further education centres, and

(5)Clubs and organisations operating for the benefit of persons belonging to Morayshire or Nairnshire.

In making grants for any purpose, financial circumstance will be taken into account.

3.Applications for grants should be lodged with Jean-Anne Goodbrand, Education and Social Care, The Moray Council, Headquarters, High Street, ELGIN IV30 1BX.

The closing date for applications is 30 September each year.

4.Applicants will be expected to have a report completed in support of their application.

5.Details of purposes for which grants may be made under the various sections of the Trust Scheme:-

Section 23: University Bursaries - Bursaries may be awarded to school pupils about to enter a ScottishUniversity or to under-graduates at a ScottishUniversity who require financial aid to enable them to derive the greatest benefit from a University education.

Section 24: Central Institution, etc Bursaries - Bursaries may be awarded to inhabitants of the Combined County who require financial assistance to enable them to derive the greatest benefit from the education provided at a Scottish CentralInstitution or Training College

Section 27: Adult Education - Expenditure may be incurred in making grants in connection with the organisation of lectures or other suitable types of instruction for the promotion and encouragement of adult education in the Combined County.

Section 28: Special Equipment - Grants may be made to the schools in Moray and Nairn to assist in providing special equipment

Section 29: Sports Facilities - Grants may be made to assist in providing and maintaining playing fields and other accommodation for sports, including equipment, for the benefit of children and young persons resident in the CombinedCounty.

Section 30: Travel Grants - Grants may be made to individuals to enable them to travel in Great Britain or abroad for any purpose of an educational nature.

Section 31: School Excursions - Grants may be made to assist with the expenses of organised educational excursions for the benefit of children or young persons attending schools in the CombinedCounty.
