The mission of the South Dakota Association for Medical Staff Services is to provide the opportunity for continuing education, to promote the improvement of professional knowledge and skills by uniting persons who are engaged in medical staff activities, and to support the mission statement of the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS). The association shall also strive to increase membership, involve current members and provide consistent communication to its members.

The South Dakota Association of Medical Staff Services is a not-for-profit organization that was officially established in 2002. In 2002 the SDAMSS membership was 22 and has grown to over 37 members in 2008. The desire of the organization is to continue growth while benefiting professionals in Medical Staff Service offices across South Dakota.
The primary goal of SDAMSS is to provide a forum wherein members can keep current with changes in healthcare and standards recommended by accrediting bodies. The Association promotes professional relationships within SDAMSS and external organizations.
SDAMSS is the South Dakota State Chapter of the National Association Medical Staff Services, which is the preeminent international organization for the education and development of individuals responsible for managing credentialing, privileging, practitioner/provider organizations and regulatory compliance in the diverse healthcare industry.
