CHANGE IN THE COMMUNITY IN ROME

Departures…

In June and July 08, two members of the community of Rome have returned to their respective provinces. Sister Hortensia Salazar, having spent two years in the service of the house of Rome, has returned to Mexico. Sister Isabel Roure, after more than five years working in the archives and as local bursar, has returned to the province of Madrid. We thank them for their contribution to the community and to general level and we wish them a happy reintegration in their own country.

Sister Euphrasie Razafielinoro who has spent a year of formation in Rome practically and theoretically regarding the trafficking of women and children, has been missioned to Mauritius Island. She will be a councillor of the Region of Mauritius/Rodrigues and will also be able to implement what she holds dear to her heart in the accompaniment of women whose dignity has been wounded.

Arrivals…

During this month of September, we expect Sister Elisabeth Chasteau, from the Region of Mauritius/Rodrigues. In October, Sister Elisabeth will commence her mandate as general secretary.

Sister Maria Jesús Platero remains in Rome to assure the work of the archives and complement the work of the secretariate.

At the same time as Sister Elisabeth, Sister Lorraine Allet from the same Region of Mauritius/Rodrigues, will join the community of Rome.

We thank each one for her availability and we wish each one a quick and happy insertion into the Roman context.

The community of Rome will then be formed of the following members:

-  The four sisters of the General Council

-  Sister Maria Luisa Antolin, General bursar

-  Sister Elisabeth Chasteau, General secretary

-  Sister Maria Jesus Platero, Archivist

-  Sister Lorraine Allet

-  Sister Mercedes Hernandez

-  Sister Anne Wetterwald

-  Sister Martine Rasoavaohita (student at the Gregorian University)

For some months, we shall have the presence of Sister Marie Claire Ramampiandra, from the Region of Madagascar, who will come to Rome to follow the course for formators in French.

Sister Marthe Rasoamalala, from the Region of Madagascar will also pass through. Sister Marthe is missioned to Panama and as it is not possible to obtain a visa for Panama from her own country, her visa will be arranged in Italy.

Amendment to the agenda of the General Council

You will notice a change in the planning of the General Council in relation to the séjour of Sister Dolores Diez de Revenga, in the Conference of Africa and the Isles.

As has already been foreseen, Sister Dolores will be in Entebbe from August 25 to September 9, for the meeting of the young professed of the Conference of Africa and the Isles.

She will then return to Rome and go to the novitiate in Mauritius from the second half of October until the end of November.
