PERMISSION FOR A FIELD TRIP
THE LIFE & STORIES OF
EDGAR ALLAN POE
September 18, 2017
Dear Parents:
On Thursday, October 26, the students in PPS’s Drama I & II classes will be taking a field trip to The Playhouse in the Park to seeathrilling, theatrical production of four short stories of Edgar Allan Poe: “The Tell-Tale Heart”, “The Casque of Amontillado”, “Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether”, and “King Pest.” The actors in this Playhouse production typically range between the ages of 13 and 24, and the quality of their productions and of their acting provide an excellent dramatic model for our students.
On the 26th, we will leave school at approximately 9:45 AM on Mobile County school buses and return to school no later than 12:00 PM. Because the time of this show conflicts with our lunch waves at school, students who attend will need to order a sack lunch from our cafeteria or bring a sack lunch to eat here at school after the show. A sealed and unopened beverage (bottle or can) should be included with a lunch brought from home. No “picnicking” will take place prior to the show, or on the bus. [Note: If you would like the school cafeteria to prepare a lunch for you, please inform us of that ASAP and also make a note of that on the permission slip below.]
Field trips are a privilege, and students who attend MUST MEET the following requirements:
- Appropriate behavior at school, on the bus, and on previous field trips
- No suspensions from school (waiver by principal’s approval only)
- Regular attendance at school as outlined in the Student/Parent Handbook
The principal may choose and can deny any student permission for a field trip if she feels that the best interest of that student will be better served by participating in regular classes and/or remediation activities at school.
Please sign the permission slip below and return it no later than Wednesday, October 4 with a $10.00 payment for the ticket and bus fee (cash - exact change, please; or check made out to PPS, including work phone & driver’s license number). The ticket portion of this cost is a reduced price for students attending a field trip. Parents are also invited to attend (see below).
IF YOU PLAN TO ORDER A CAFETERIA SACK LUNCH, WE NEED NOTIFICATION OF THAT ASAP (before 10/4)!
Sincerely, Vera Lynn Sheets& Andrea Vickers
