Chairman Marino welcomed everyone to the meeting and explained that this meeting was at the request of the Lincoln County Commission. The LNMC presented to the Lincoln County Commission some concerns it had with the Water Supple Management Plan and the Lincoln County Commission requested the LNMC and the Catawba-Wateree Water Management Group meet to discuss these concerns.

Chairman Marino then introduced the key members of the Water Management Group.

Mr. Barry Gullet, Chairman of the Catawba-Wateree Water Management group, began the presentation with an overview of the planning process and history of the efforts to date. He, along with the assistance of Mr. Jeff Lineberger, presented a slideshow of information in an attempt to address the issues of concern as communicated by the LNMC. These issues which are not addressed in the Water Management Plan (WSMP) are as listed:

The Catawba River is an endangered river, but not stated so in the Water Supply Management Plan (WSMP)

The importance of improving Power Plant water consumption is not discussed in the WSMP

The Inter-Basin Transfers (IBT) permitted by the state are 40% more than are currently being consumed.

The concept that the increased water consumption will cause the lake levels to rise per the Water Supply Management Plan (WSMP) as well as the forecasted WSMP was not run against the Drought of Record.

After the presentation, the LNMC commissioners and staff asked questions for clarification and information. A request was made by the LNMC to be provided a copy of the slide show and a commitment was made by Mr. Gullet to provide a copy. In addition, the WMG agreed to provide information incorporating the Drought of Record information into the water supply calculation model.

Chairman Marino thanked everyone for attending and expressed his appreciation for the efforts and energy of the Water Management Group to provide information to help the LNMC to better understand the WSMP.

Chairman Marino asked for a motion to adjourn. CommissionerSamplemade a motion to adjourn the meeting, Commissioner Young seconded the motion. The motion was approved and the meeting was adjourned.
