The Junior Auxiliary of Cabot Crown Club (CC) has been in existence for several years. The Chapter appoints a Crown Club Chairperson(s) each year to oversee the activities of the Crown Club. The CC Chairperson is an Executive Board position.
Membership in the CC is by invitation only and there are specific qualifications to be eligible for membership:
a) Cum GPA of 2.5 or above
b) Sophomore thru Senior class
c) Recommended by JA of Cabot Active, Life or Associate member or current CC member
d) Resident of Cabot school district for at least 6 months
e) Payment of $15 annual dues
There is no limit to the number of members for the CC, therefore the possible need for two Co-Chairs for the club. During the 2008-09 year, there were approximately 30 members of the Cabot Crown Club.
Nominations for membership are collected and invitations mailed in mid-August. The first meeting is usually held in September when the new members are approved and officers are elected. There are 4 officer positions – President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Placement Chairman. Meetings are held monthly. To maintain good standing, a member must attend 2/3 of the meetings and meet the annual service hour requirement of 14 hours.
In 2008 web-based social applications were used to communicate with the members. A Yahoo email account was set up and the phone text application was used to text directly to the members’ cell phones with meeting and event updates, etc.
MySpace and Facebook pages for the Crown Club were also set up and posted with upcoming meetings and events and club documents (hours sheets, prayer, constitution, etc) were uploaded that the members could print as necessary. These things worked really well to keep the membership informed and involved in the club activities.
The CC has their own service projects and also assists the JA chapter with service and finance projects. They provide monthly childcare for the JA Chapter meetings which enables more members to attend meetings.
