Announcements:
It feels like forever since we have been in school- wow! I am crossing my fingers for us to go all five days this week! The kids did a wonderful job with the rules and routines today and seemed very excited to be back together.
During the month of January we will join with the First grade classes to have a “friendly” little reading competition! It’s called “The Great Snowball Book Blitz”! I am sending home new snowballs to color this week- one snowball per book or a chapter from a longer book. Send the snowball sheet back to school each Monday and we will add together the number of books/chapters read from the previous week,…then graph our class total! Our class read 353 books last week- WOW!!! Keep up the great work!
Our classroom reward/compliment party will be tomorrow! Yay! I know several students were disappointed that we have had to wait so long for this day! Your child may wear their pajamas and bring a stuffed animal for the day. Please make sure the stuffed animal is small enough to fit in their backpack.
Please continue to collect Box Tops for our school! Thank you to everyone that has sent Box Tops in this year.
Our WES Winter Carnival will be February 1st! Each classroom will put together a basket for the auction. Our class’ theme is the University of Kentucky. Please send in a UK item for our basket. If you would prefer to donate money instead, that would be fine too. I will take all money collected and shop for UK items. The class basket that raises the most money will receive a pizza party!
If you have pictures from a field trip, class party, or other event please upload them to our class Shutterfly page. Thank you!
Report cards will come home tomorrow.
I will be out next Monday and Tuesday at the National Reading Recovery Conference. The substitute teacher will be Mrs. Clark and she is fabulous! I look forward to bringing back a variety of reading and writing ideas for our classroom.
Thank You:
