ENTRIES.

  • Contestants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Entry fee will be $125 per person with a maximum of three (3) entries. The second and third entries will be $100 each.
  • There will be a limit of 100 individual entrants.
  • Registration is available by contacting Laura Gardner, General Manager of TCA, at 859-254-4282, or . Please use the entry form provided.
  • All entries must be received by Wednesday, August 26th, 2015, accompanied by a check, credit card number or money order in the amount of the entry fee(s). The mailing address is: Thoroughbred Club of America, 3555 Rice Road, Lexington, KY 40510.
  • On Saturday, August 29th, if space is available, walk-in entries will be accepted beginning at 10:00 a.m. (ET) at the Registration Desk for the tournament, located at The Thoroughbred Club.
  • Entries for this contest will not be taken after 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29th.
  • Players must place all wagers personally. No person shall directly or indirectly act as an intermediary, transmitter or agent in placing wagers for the player.

GENERAL INFORMATION.

  • Guests who do not participate in the contest will be charged a $25.00 admission fee which includes the buffet lunch.
  • The Thoroughbred Club is a non-smoking facility.
  • Due to the size of the areas used for the handicapping tournament, it may be necessary for participants to share tables.
  • Owners and trainers with an interest in a horse entered in any of the races designated as part of the contest will be ineligible to wager on such races. If an owner or trainer has an interest in an entry, they must identify themselves to the contest coordinator who will determine if the interest precludes you from wagering.
  • Participation in the tournament is limited to Thoroughbred Club members and their guest(s).
  • The official scheduled post time will be determined as published by the Daily Racing Form.
  • There is a 20-1 “cap” on the win wager ($42 maximum payoff) and a 10-1 “cap” on the place wager (maximum $22 payoff).

THE CONTEST.

  • The contest will consist of fifteen (15) different races OF THE PLAYER’S CHOICE, from four (4) designated racetracks, up to and including the scheduled post time of the 146th Running of the Travers Stakes from Saratoga Racetrack.THERE WILL BE NO “MANDATORY” OR “DESIGNATED” RACES. The Travers Stakes will be the final scheduled race of the tournament.
  • No race can be used twice with the same contestant identification number.

RACETRACKS

  • The list of four (4) racetracks will be posted on the website and available at the Thoroughbred Club no later than 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 26th, 2015.

SCRATCHES.

  • If a Late Scratch occurs or a horse is declared a “non-starter” or running for “purse only” in any contest race, the contestant must return to a Contest Only Wager window to cancel the ticket and select another horse for that race. If a Late Scratch occurs or a horse is declared a “non-starter” or running for “purse only” and post time prevents the selection of an alternate horse, the wager will be refunded. If this occurs on the last race of the contest, and the player has no opportunity to place his or her 15th wager, the total for that player shall consist of 14 race plays.

WAGERING INFORMATION/PROCEDURE

  • Each contestant will be limited to one mythical $2 win wager and one mythical $2 place wager in each contest race. Both wagers must be on the same horse.
  • Contestants will be assigned an encoded identification card.
  • Official standings are based on “Winnings” only.
  • Wagers may be made at any designated “Contest Only” window, with either a teller or a self-serve machine. Any cancellations must be made at the same type of window; if the wager is placed with a teller it must be canceled at a teller window; if made on a self-serve it must be canceled at a self-serve.
  • Please keep your contest mutuel tickets until the final standings have been declared official.
  • Once you leave the Contest Mutuel Window, no changes in your selection may be made, except in case of an identification number error, a late scratch, or a race being moved off the turf. If a mistake is made on the contest ticket, you must return to the same Contest Only Window and exchange it before the race is closed.
  • Contestants are responsible for checking the accuracy of their tote ticket BEFORE leaving the window. Discrepancies should be corrected immediately. Any further discrepancies should be brought to the attention of the tournament director immediately.

TOTE FAILURE CONTINGENCY PLAN

  • In the event of a tote failure, power outage or other disrupting event, or in case of track cancellations, the contest will be conducted as follows:
  • If one track cancels racing, the tournament will continue as scheduled with three tracks.
  • If more than one track cancels, the tournament director will determine an adjusted number of races to be played, prior to the beginning of the contest.
  • Any unforeseen issue that disrupts the contest after the beginning of the contest and prohibits the equitable distribution of prizes may result in the cancellation of the contest, at the discretion of the tournament director. In this case, all entry fees less the $25 charge for food shall be refunded.

TIEBREAKERS.

In the event of a tie, based on total winnings, the prize money for those places will be equally shared. For purposes of determining the qualifiers for the Tournament of Champions, the winner(s) willbe determined by, in order:

  1. The highest total pari-mutuel return in any one race.
  2. The second highest pari-mutuel return in any one race.
  3. The third highest pari-mutuel return in any one race.
  4. Continue with the fourth highest, fifth, sixth, etc to the twelfth highest pari-mutuel return.
  5. In the event a tie continues after all of the above options have been exhausted, the tied contestants will continue making their selections from races determined by the Tournament Director.

QUALIFYING FOR THE TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS AND PRIZE MONEY.

The top five finishers in the contest shall qualify for the Keeneland Tournament of Champions, to be held in November, 2015, and will compete for two fully-paid entries plus expenses to the 2016 Horseplayers World Series in Las Vegas.In addition, if the winner of the contest is a TCA member, a designated parking spot will be available for that winner for the remainder of the 2015 calendar year.

PRIZE MONEY DISTRIBUTION:

Prize funds as published are based on 100 entries but will be adjusted according to the actual number of entries. Prize monies will be distributed after verification of the results by our United Tote representative and the tournament director. The tournament director maintains final say over any and all discrepancies. ALL money-winningcontestants will be required to sign W-9 forms. Should technical difficulties occur and additional time is required, checks will be mailed within five business days.

3rd Place: $1,300

4th Place: $ 650

5th Place: $ 300

6th through 10th Place: $ 150
