The HSMAI Revenue Optimization Conference (ROC) is a unique one-day interactive program where attendees learn about the latest trends and best practices in revenue management for hotels – and what they can mean to them and their companies – from industry experts and practitioners. The audience is typically composed of senior or regional hospitality professionals with direct responsibility for Revenue Optimization and Pricing, and management leaders with an interest in staying ahead of the curve.

We are seeking knowledgeable and talented presenters to address the revenue management, pricing and distribution issues and challenges that hoteliers are facing, summarize the implications, and provide solutions and strategies for 2013 and beyond. In order to consider you as a speaker for ROC, we need to know about you, your area(s) of expertise, and your ideas for a presentation. Please complete and return the following form.

Important items to note:

  • Due to the expected volume of proposals, we will only notify those selected to speak. If you are accepted, you will be notified by March 30, 2013.
  • Please note that HSMAI does not providespeaking fees or travel allowances.
  • This form must be completed in full and returned byFebruary 15, 2013 to be considered for the 2013ROC.

What is of interest to ROC attendees?

ROC attendees are interested in actionable information and insights regarding the most timely and relevant revenue management issues of the day. A few general examples include:

  • Tools for effectiveness
  • Strategies for effectiveness
  • Thought leadership & future trends
  • Solutions to the issues keeping them up at night

How are speakers chosen?

Presentations should expand the knowledge base of the attendee, presentingnew twists on an old idea/practice, solutions to challenges,best practices or new trends. Attendees should leave with knowledge, ideas, tools and know-how that will help them excel in their positions and bring value to their organizations.

ROC attendees report that one of the greatest benefits of the conference is their learning from practitioners in the field. Therefore, representatives of industry partner companies and consultants who submit presentation proposals are strongly encouraged to involve a hotelier practitioner(s) as a co-presenter or panelist.

All submissions will be evaluated with respect to a variety of criteria, including experience of presenter(s) timeliness of topic, originality, and educational value to attendees. Other guidelines include:

  • Engaging and appropriate title
  • Well-written description of the proposed content
  • Actionable take-aways
  • Practical, relevant, and/or innovative content
  • Potential to contribute to a well-balanced conference program
  • Whenever possible, HSMAI records presentations and the recordings and/or transcriptions are provided post-event to the attendees. Presenters who grant permission to record their presentations will be given preference in the selection process.
  • Proposals of a commercial nature which promote or market particular products and/or services, will not be considered.

What can you expect as a ROC presenter?

If you are accepted, you will be notified by March 30, 2013. Upon acceptance, you will receive a Speaker’s Agreement and additional details.

For marketing purposes, HSMAI reserves the right to edit the title and description. All changes will be shared with the presenter for mutual agreement.

HSMAI’s ROC is a paperless meeting. No handouts will be duplicated or distributed onsite. Electronic copies of presentations and/or handouts (PDFs) will be posted on-line in advance of each eventand made available to registered attendees.

All session rooms at ROC have a standard room set to maximize seating for attendees. There is a lectern and 6’ table in the front of the room but no riser. All rooms will have: a wireless lavaliere microphone,power,and LCD projector with screen.

HSMAI’s ROC sessions are non-commercial forums. Under no circumstances maya presenter promote a product,service, or anything else representing monetary self-interest. Failure to comply will impact future consideration.

What are the common reasons for non-acceptance of proposals?

  • A large number of strong proposals were received, not all of which could be accepted due to timing/space considerations.
  • Multiple proposals with overlapping content were received.
  • The proposal does not meet the goals of the meeting.
  • The proposal is too narrowly focused or may not have wide appeal.
  • The proposal was vague or did not provide enough information.
  • The topic has been presented recently.
  • The proposal did not offer a practitioner’s perspective on the subject matter.
