Fèis an Iar – Dheas ( Festival of the South West ) is a special one-day event consisting of workshops for the musically-minded, theatrically-inclined, dancing divas and fun-loving youngsters who want to come together, meet new people and enjoy the day’s activities.

If your youngster is in Primary 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or first year in Secondary School then this is an event for them

On offer:

10 – 10.30 / All in Active Communal Song
10.30 -11.30 / First Choice Activities – Gaelic/Scots song, band, percussion, drama + games
Alternative – Gaelic for the Terrified (adults)
Gaelic Singing/Rhyme Session for younger siblings
11.30 -11.45 / Break (free drinks and snacks available)
11.45 – 12.45 / First Choice Activities as above
12.45 – 1.45 / LUNCH (bring your own)
1.45 – 2.30 / Choice of alternative activities – art, ceilidh dancing, taster instruments, board games, family film, Easy Peasy Gaelic for the Curious and the Mystery Activities of the Corridor Trail
2.30 – 2.45 / Break (free drinks and snacks)
2.45 – 3.45 / Rehearsal for concert – first choice activities people
Choice of alternative activities as above for others
3.45 - 4 / Break
4 - 5 / CONCERT/CEILIDH

Parents are required to registertheir child/ren at the beginning of the day (9am – 9.45am ) and to collect them at the end.

All activities are supervised.

Experienced, professional musicians run the workshop sessions and work in accordance with Child Protection and Health and Safety Guidelines. Tutors have completed Disclosure Scotland applications.

Participants should choose just one first choice activity. Beginners are welcome to the song, drama, dance and percussion sessions as are all other levels of ability. Those experienced in percussion should bring their own instruments. For the band some experience is desirable and you will also need to bring your own instrument. You don’t need to be able to read music. Workshops are taught by ear, learning tunes a phrase at a time. Mobile phones must be switched off during sessions. For the alternative activities, participants are free to move between them in their own time, althoughsome activities may have specified times.

We reserve the right to send home any child whose behaviour compromises the enjoyment/safety of others. In that instance we expect parents to collect the child.

Please note that if your child normally requires a care/auxiliary at school, a carer must be provided if your child is to attend the Fèis. Please ensure that any special needs are recorded on the booking form.

Parents/guardians/teachers/carers are all welcome to attend the Communal Song, Gaelic for the Terrified and the Concert/Ceilidh free of charge.

Cost - £10 for the first child then £3 for each additional family member. Cheques are payable to Fèis anIar- Dheas (GaidhligDumgal)
